I wake up at 5:30 am every morning. If I didn’t push myself to get up early, I would sleep until 5 minutes before my first meeting. I was really reluctant to be that ‘morning routine’ person, but it’s made me a better entrepreneur. For the last month, I’ve been experimenting with the Andrew Huberman method. Here’s what my early morning looks like: ☀️5:30 am - Wake up ☀️Drink electrolyte water - delay caffeine intake ☀️5:45 am - Sunlight exposure  ☀️6 am - go to the gym or take a walk ☀️Cold shower - (I’m up to 45 seconds!) ☀️White space Okay, let me explain the last one. I make sure not to check any of my work emails until 9 am. Before that, I spend an hour to 90 minutes in what I call ‘white space.’ This is where I can get my high-level work done. Without distractions, I only work on projects or tasks that actually move the needle forward in my business. It’s so easy to get bogged down in daily tasks that the high-level work gets put off. I want to grow my businesses, LN Accounting Advisor LLC and TaxHero. I can’t do that if I don’t give myself time to sit and do the visionary work. It’s not been fun waking up at 5:30 the last month. But I’ve found that my overall mood is better.  I’m also making bigger strides in growing my businesses, because I have carved out productive time before the daily hustle begins. Happy Independence Day!🎆 Since today is the 4th of July, I just want to share all the reasons why I love celebrating this day! For starters, it's the perfect day to honor the values of freedom and independence that define our nation. Aside from that, I love how families get to come together. I even make sure to take time off so I can hang out with my loved ones. But above all, I love that every 4th of July, I get to pause, reflect, and just appreciate life as it is. How about you? Did you know I have 2 businesses? This is not a flex post. It’s a re-introduction! You might see me on here talking about sales tax, and you also might read posts about general accounting and fractional CFO content. I am the CEO of both LN Accounting Advisor LLC and TaxHero. Two different businesses that solve two different problems in the accounting space. Let me break the differences down: 💲 LN Accounting Advisor is a full-service accounting advisory firm that provides fractional CFO offerings. 💲 TaxHero is a full-stack, all-inclusive U.S. sales tax solution for e-commerce and CPG businesses Why two businesses? I have clients that I can serve in two different and unique ways. My clients are always my North Star, and I started my business ventures by offering traditional accounting services. I aim to always have a highly personalized approach with my clients, and I truly live to see them win. When I can take clients from negative to positive cashflow or see my strategic input translate directly to growth, it gives me immense satisfaction and joy. But I knew there was more I could do. I’m the kind of person who, when I see a problem, I have to solve it. When the Wayfair sales tax case of 2018 happened, many of my clients had their accounting turned upside down due to new sales tax laws. This changed sales tax accounting for all of our clients and I wanted to find a streamlined solution for them, only to discover it didn’t exist. So, I created TaxHero. Now, I get to serve my clients in an entirely new way and interact with new clients. I love nothing more than to see a client accounting makeover go from a mess to organized and thriving. Most people think that entrepreneurs are tough and stubborn. But I’m a different kind of entrepreneur. Being stubborn or forceful are actually great qualities because they can drive you forward with momentum. However, I have gotten to where I am today (the CEO of two finance companies) by being the exact opposite. As a founder, I try to be as adaptable as possible. I prefer to bend in the wind like a reed instead of breaking in a storm like a tree. I’m relentless about my success, but don’t hold a fixed vision. If I need to pivot, I can pivot. My goal is to adjust and refine our methods and services continually. If we’ve disappointed a client, I want to know why and don’t want it sugarcoated. We can all learn and be better from constructive criticism. I am open to feedback of all kinds. I like to hear it from both my team and our clients and customers. Entrepreneurs can often have too narrow of a vision for their company and rail against anything that disrupts it. I do my best to keep my eyes wide open and am lucky that my default is not to be defensive. What if I tell you I can handle your sales tax for the price of a Starbucks Coffee? I'm being serious. Starbucks may not be cheap anymore when it comes to coffee. But for accounting, that’s a darn low price to manage your sales taxes. And I’m going to manage EVERYTHING that has to do with sales tax for your business. I don’t know about you, but I hate half-solutions. And from first-hand experience, I noticed most sales tax solutions I’ve used before were just not as comprehensive as I thought they should be. It's like buying a car and then discovering you have to purchase the tires separately. You expect a complete package, but instead, you're left with the hassle of finding the missing pieces to make it work. This is exactly what I encountered in the sales tax space. The only software available only handled the tech side. It didn’t feel like there was a real tax professional behind the scenes! I wanted to find a complete solution for my clients, so I approached the problem very differently than other software companies. Why? Because I’m an accountant by trade. Not an engineer. As I ran my accounting firm, I listened to my client’s complaints and the legal requirements for dealing with all of the nuances of business sales tax. That’s how TaxHero came to be. I have a secret. I know the worst part about running your business. What makes it the ‘worst’ is that you don’t even realize what’s happening right under your nose. If you own an e-commerce or CPG business, there is most likely one part of your business that you have neglected. Or worse, don’t even realize it’s something you need to deal with. Do you have a plan and strategy for handling state-by-state sales tax? Most of our TaxHero clients either didn’t know this was an issue. Some thought they had it figured out with their regular sales tax software or CPA/accountant.
