Truth be told we took a long hiatus from trade shows in the post-pandemic years, 'would exhibitions ever return to normal'?... but really, nothing beats the in-person experience of an exhibition. Give the customer what they want when they want it. When he started his first business in 1958, Frank Jacobs set himself apart from the rest of the industry through innovation and action. He introduced the four-prong cast iron table base, changing the world of commercial furniture. What set his business apart from the others was his mindset. Early on, he realized action was superior to promise. Frank was out on a cold call with a company not looking to switch suppliers. As any good salesman would, Frank listened to the customer. He learned the company received a table base missing a part—a single bolt. The supplier requested a dollar and some change to issue the missing part. Frank knew that wasn't the way to help customers. He ran out to his car, grabbed a bolt, and handed it over. With a quick gesture, he gained their trust and business for decades. Like people, businesses aren't perfect!
