Love this - great career advice and as JP Elliott, PhD states this might be the only career advice you will ever need. “The bottom line…If you work for a leader who has both “high expectations” and “high belief” in your abilities to deliver…your career will thrive!” #careerjourney#leadership#belief
This might be the only career advice you will ever need...here's why?
When Lucien Alziari said this during our recent conversation for the Future of HR Podcast, I was blown away...
Why?
Because Lucien perfectly captured in one sentence, not only what it means to work for a GREAT leader...but how to identify a great leader to work for!
Think about it...
The best leaders have high expectations for themselves and for you...
The best leaders push you to exceed your expectations...
The best leaders challenge you to do the best work of your career...
And...the best leaders believe in you...
The best leaders encourage you to deliver more than you thought possible...
The best leaders give you the psychological safety to make mistakes, learn and then deliver...
The bottom line...If you work for a leader who has both "high expectations" and "high belief" in your abilities to deliver...your career will thrive!
This is why this might be the only career advice you will ever need...
What are your thoughts on "high expectations" and "high belief" leaders?
PS - Lucien's conversation will be out next Tuesday on Future of HR Podcast...don't miss it!

Why is the single biggest barrier to having power…ourselves?
Find out in this week's Future of HR Podcast...
With my guest Jeffrey Pfeffer Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University and Author of 16 books including his latest one the “7 Rules of Power”:
In my experience, there is a lot of misconceptions about power in our field. I asked Jeffrey to come on the podcast to tell us what the research says about power and help set the record straight...
During our conversation Jeffrey and I discuss:
• Why he believes the single biggest barrier to having power is ourselves
• Why it is important that we own and tell our story, not let others tell it for us
• Why he believes that being authentic and/or modest is terrible leadership advice
• Why networking is a super power and how to do it well
• Why he believes HR needs to raise the bar and step into their power
• His advice on how to deal with difficult leaders in positions of power
Curious to hear your thoughts on this episode and Jeffrey's view on power overall...

Every Friday morning, as I settle into my admin tasks, I fire up a podcast to keep me company 🎧 In the ever-evolving field of HR, it's more important than ever to stay on the vanguard. We need to be aware of the latest trends, best practices, and emerging challenges. That's why I'm a big fan of the Hacking HR podcast. This podcast features interviews with leading HR professionals, academics, and thought leaders from around the world. They discuss a wide range of topics, from talent development, business strategy and employee engagement to diversity and inclusion.
I recently tuned in to episode 454, featuring Deepti Lewis, where she delves into the significance of coaching in leadership. She contends that effective leaders are not those who possess all the answers, but rather those who are adept at listening and asking insightful questions. She additionally emphasizes that leadership can often feel like a solitary journey and stresses the importance of remaining true to oneself while embarking on a leadership role.
Deepti's insights were both insightful and inspiring. They served as a stark reminder of the crucial role that challenging assumptions plays in fostering a culture of learning, curiosity, and critical thinking within our organizations. And they challenged me to think more deeply about my own leadership style. 🤔
If you're looking for a podcast that will help you stay ahead of the curve in HR, I highly recommend subscribing to their Hacking HR Lab community. It's a great way to connect with other HR professionals, join live events, learn from the best, and stay up-to-date on the latest trends in the field. See you there! 👋

HR/AI ADVISOR - I help business leaders gain an unfair advantage in their industry by leveraging effective AI tools and optimizing human potential through building high-performing and productive teams.
History has shown us time and again that when we come together, combining our strengths, expertise, and visions, we can accomplish far more than we ever could alone. This principle of collaboration is the very foundation upon which the world has moved forward.
In today's world with so much focus and movement to AI, I feel the need for real human connection and collaboration has never been more pronounced. As humans, our intrinsic need for interaction goes beyond mere communication; it's about building relationships that foster growth, innovation, and understanding. This truth holds particularly true in the workplace and our professional lives, where the complexities of modern challenges demand diverse perspectives and skill sets.
Collaboration, however, is not just about working together. It's about aligning with those who share our values, our vision, and our commitment to making a difference. The quality of our collaborations can significantly impact our personal and professional growth. Therefore, it is crucial to be conscious and intentional about whom we choose to collaborate with.
On a personal note, I am honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with Andrew Stoute on a number of upcoming projects! His dedication to kindness and his genuine care for others resonate deeply with my own values. If you haven't tuned into his Let's Be Diverse Podcast, I highly recommend you go tune in!
As we continue to navigate the complexities of our world, let us remember the power of collaboration. Let us seek out those who not only complement our skills but who also align with our deepest values. For it is in these partnerships that we find the strength to innovate, the courage to challenge the status quo, and the capacity to make a meaningful IMPACT.
Let's move forward together, building a future that embraces collaboration, values connection, and celebrates the collective power of our shared efforts.

Hi, I’m Andrew Stoute, host of Let’s Be Diverse, an HR podcast where I share motivational posts, insights on HR and leadership topics, and personal anecdotes. As an empathetic and innovative HR professional, my goal is to inspire like-minded individuals who believe that the workplace should be a safe place to succeed and grow. Together, let’s explore different perspectives and create meaningful conversation
Leaders, Managers & Bosses
Lately, there has been a lot of talk of bad bosses and management. Articles, posts, podcasts etc... How they negatively impact careers, teams and the growth of businesses. And whilst I am aware that this is far too common an occurrence. I thought I would take this opportunity to tell the other side of the story and celebrate the leaders that have trained, guided and mentored me over the years.
All too often (particularly in sales and recruitment) we are very quick to celebrate the success of the consultants. We often neglect the thought for those who have empowered and enabled some of our success.
So, here is an extensive list of all the leaders who have given me their counsel, advice, occasional firm tellings off (all warranted) and most importantly their trust over the years. I doubt I would be quite where I am today if it weren't for all of you.

I have never had a 'boss'.
Many relationship experts say that you can't truly love others, if you don’t love yourself. And I think it's similar for leaders. You can't effectively lead others, if you don’t first learn to lead, or manage, yourself.
Great leaders learn to master self-management. By doing so they're able to navigate challenges with resilience and grace. Great leaders understand how to manage their energy, mood, and mindset to boost their impact, and ultimately improve the wellbeing and performance of the whole team.
If you're interested in starting the journey to better understand and manage yourself, below are a couple of my recommendations:
🧠 Book: The Happiness Advantage: How a Positive Brain Fuels Success in Work and Life by Shawn Achor
🧠 Book: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change by Stephen R. Covey - a great classic, still so relevant!
🧠 Podcast: The Tim Ferriss Show - features interviews with leaders/experts from various fields, often discussing topics related to energy management and productivity.
🧠 Podcast: The Diary of a CEO - Steven Bartlett also interviews a wide variety leaders, discussions often relate to psychology, neuroscience and personal resilience & effectiveness.
Do you have any other recommendations? Please feel free to add them to the comments! 😀
Sometimes wisdom is found in unexpected places.
and the best lessons often come from the 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀.
𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝘂𝗹:
Robb Holman’s childhood mentor, who first caught his attention on a basketball court when he was just 10 years old.
Despite their differences – social class, religion, background – Abdul, a fellow basketball enthusiast, had a wealth of knowledge that transcended those boundaries.
𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵:
From Abdul, Robb learned the hidden power of being open to receive wisdom from anyone, at any time, no matter how different their walk of life might be.
This lesson shaped Robb’s understanding of mentorship and the value of diverse perspectives, inspiring the theme of his book, Lessons from Abdul.
