At Carbon Minds, we’ll always be grateful to the people who’ve helped us on our journey from a research project to a fully-fledged company – and it’s always a pleasure to do the same for future startups in our field! That’s why we’re delighted that our very own Raoul Meys attended the recent QuinCAT event at RWTH Aachen University in his role as a member of the QuinCAT Strategy Board! 🌱 The QuinCAT (Quick Innovation in Catalysis) incubator helps to bridge the gap between the worlds of business and academia to facilitate the creation of innovative green chemistry startups. This initiative, generously supported by the European Union and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, aims to reduce the barriers that many young companies face when starting up. It does this by providing eligible entrepreneurs with access to cutting-edge laboratories and office space, as well as many other benefits. Meanwhile, the QuinCAT Strategy Board is dedicated to helping potential founders develop a solid business model, which gives them a much better chance of long-term success. All of these resources were a great help in the early days of Carbon Minds, enabling us to make the transition from research to startup much more easily. QuinCAT’s full-spectrum support includes: 🔬 State-of-the-art laboratories and office spaces 📊 Essential equipment and analytics 🧪 Expert mentoring and networking opportunities 🤝 On-site guidance and consultation By empowering more ambitious leaders to drive innovation in this field through targeted support and constructive collaborations, we can catalyze a more sustainable chemical industry. #quincat #chemicals #startup #sustainability

We've had a great time at the SUND Innovation Day at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, UCPH at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen 🙌 And we have gathered some interesting insights into the world of Academia regarding the importance of having inspiring role models who've navigated the startup path. A solid support structure is crucial; it's not just about great ideas, but making things happen. The speakers also tackled the topic of implementation. The key to real innovation is research that goes beyond academic boundaries and creates a genuine impact in the real world. Because if there is no tangible impact, the research doesn't contribute to much. Stephan Christgau from Eir Ventures and Anne-Marie Engel, CSO at LEO Foundation // LEO Fondet shared valuable insights that resonated with us 🙌 Their experiences highlight the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in order to bring about positive change. Events like these inspire us to keep supporting MedTech startups on their quest to bring groundbreaking ideas to life. So let's keep pushing the boundaries of innovation💡 #SUNDInnovationDay #HealthcareInnovation #UCPH #TeamInnovation #entrepreneurship #healthcare

Deeptech Investor summit at ETH Zürich It was great to meet again the alumni of CAS in Entrepreneurial Leadership in Technology Ventures (ELTV) at ETHZurich yesterday. One of the big questions of the summit is: how could we have a healthier ecosystem of entrepreneurship in this part of the world ? Many things are needed to have healthy startups growing into healthy unicorns, i.e. healthy ecosystem: 📚Availability of programs and trainings that help scientists/ techies to get into the world of business, so that we have technology actually is resolving a real-life problem 🏢 Larger innovative corporates which act almost as industry incubators encouraging spinoffs among their employees: the ecosystem mindset 🎓 Academic instutions and their close collaboration with industry 💶 Availability of financing, investors with diverse backgrounds who actually understand the tech startups they invest in 🌳Last but not least: a strong community. In the ups and downs of startup adventure, the founders need a community to share their challenges and successes. Super happy to see my peers continuing successfully their ventures: Hélène Iven & Sonia Meller making agriculture more data & analysis driven Digit Soil Alexandre H. C. Anthis eliminating bowel leakage & death risk after intestinal surgery Veltist Lukas Ambühl creating digital twins of road traffic for cities, and thus managing traffic jams Transcality Bettina Thumm monitoring success of skin transplation, increasing chance of on-time interventions Citus AG Samira Haghbin-Fend contributing to research on deeptech entrepreneurship D-MTEC ETH Zurich #ethzurich #pioneerfellowship #caseltv #ethz #deeptech #deeptechinvestorsummitzurich
