"We're a family." 🤔 Heard this from companies trying to sell their culture? But culture isn't something you just talk about. It's something you have to actively build and protect. And that starts with the people you bring onto your teams. Too many companies make the mistake of tolerating "brilliant jerks." You know the type - high IQ, low EQ. They may be talented... But their toxic behavior can quickly poison the well. → Tanking team effectiveness & results → Damaging communication → Eroding trust So the next time a company tries to sell you on their "family" culture, take a closer look. Are they walking the talk? Or are they just putting up a good front? At the end of the day, your company can be a place where you feel supported, valued, and empowered to do your best work. And that's the kind of culture worth building. But it's something you need to SHOW. Not just talk about. P.S. We're hiring at Motion (Creative Analytics)! (Insert funny Goodfellas reference -- couldn't think of one 😂) (Have a good one? Share yours in the comments!) ~~ 👋 Follow Libby Moyer for more Repost ♻️ to share

People, work at Pillar VC! Yard Stick has nearly a dozen institutional investors and only ONE of them is not exclusively climate-focused. That's Pillar, because they are the bomb. As a PBC, "Climate Impact Above All Else" as our number one core value, yadda yadda, we take shared mission/incentives seriously and don't invite non-climate-first investors onto the cap table lightly. Pillar has been a world-class supporter of me as a person and Yard Stick as a company since literally day one. (Day negative 180 or so, honestly, since Tony Kulesa and Josh Moser and Jamie Goldstein where there long before Yard Stick was even a thing!) They walk the walk of founder support, community-building (esp in Boston), and zero bullshit. Only a small % of what they've done for me/us is shareable publicly - buy me a beer sometime and I'll tell you the rest! If you want to work at a VC with soul *and* rigor, I can't recommend them more highly.
We’re hiring at Pillar VC! Come join a team of people who are lucky to support some of the most talented founders in the world in turning their ideas into pillar companies 🚀 - Chief of Staff - Full-Stack Developer - Office Manager

The growth of our people is also the growth of our company. We're not just invested in achieving our goals, we're deeply committed to nurturing your growth and development too. Sure, there's a wealth of knowledge available for free (and we personally contribute to the knowledge ecosystem), but sometimes an investment is needed. Every team member gets to enjoy €1.000/year of financial support so they can advance in both their professional and personal development. - Mastering technical SEO or UX design? ✅ - Diving deep into tech trends at a tech conference? ✅ - Stepping up with a leadership course? ✅ Use the €1.000 in a way that best fits your aspirations. But it goes beyond financial support… we champion a culture of shared learning and collective wisdom. When one of us learns, we all do. Want to join a culture of learners? My thoughts exactly.
Our talent philosophy at Motion? You can have high performance and low ego. You don't need "brilliant jerks" to scale up. We're growing up to 3X Year over Year at Motion. The coolest part? At least for me as a recruiter. We've analyzed over $3 Billion in ad spend. That's billion with a B! Wild right? But that growth is all from culture. Getting the right people. Into the right roles. High EQ. Low ego. In a healthy company culture: It's about what's right. Not who's right. Again. Small change but pretty big difference. Managers make themselves feel important. Leaders make you feel important. The energy we're after? The latter here. P.S. We have a handful of roles open right now! Interested to learn more? Check out our careers page. We’re building a new category of software to bridge the gap between performance marketers and creative teams. Our customers are top ecom and DTC brands like Vuori, True Classic, The Farmer’s Dog, HexClad and hundreds more. Oh and we have a ton of fun doing it. My first ~2 months have been a blast. Excited for what's to come! Happy Friday y'all.

How do you onboard new team members? Not just, "here's your email address, here's how you request PTO... how do you make sure new folks understand HOW to exemplify your brand and values? We're learning and Joey Coleman's new book is one of the things we're reading to improve. As a Digital Product Consulting firm, our growth depends not just on hiring great people and equipping them with sound process... we have to make sure we are ready to Show Up, to represent Bellwood Labs on the strengths of the individuals but with the consistency of our Core Values and Mission to deliver a consistent Brand feel. We aim to be the Best Partner to build and scale software products, and sustaining that goal I realize that means we have to work tirelessly to build and scale our team. What key approaches have you used to scale your team? (Bonus points for distributed-team experiences)
