If you've dreamt of zipping around the city in a small electric car, your dream is very much alive! At the #JapanMobilityShow2023, the MIH | Mobility in Harmony(MIH), led by Foxconn, introduced #ProjectX - a compact, city-friendly electric car with a twist. This tiny car is powered by Gogoro scooter batteries that are swappable, eliminating the wait at EV charging stations. Project X boasts driverless robotaxi capabilities, sliding doors for easy access, and even space for a third passenger in the back. It's a game-changer for urban mobility. While specific range details and availability remain a mystery, the Gogoro scooter batteries have a range of around 105 miles. Even though the car might offer slightly less, it's a promising step towards efficient city travel without clogging streets with bulky EVs. As the automotive world trends toward larger EVs, Project X offers a refreshing perspective. It caters to the need for compact, agile EVs, perfect for navigating city streets filled with oversized SUVs. AI-powered carparks should be a real consideration going forward. 100x cheaper. Drive in and out. Pay automatically. Never touch another ticket. Companies like Metropolis Technologies (raised $167 million) are building payment systems infrastructure for parking facilities using artificial intelligence and computer vision to facilitate payments for parking. As we build new stadiums and venues across the world -- often it's about doing more with what we've got -- infrastructure is expensive. In order to realize a future with cars that are electric or autonomous, you have to build the infrastructure for them to operate within, and that starts by bringing brick-and-mortar locations online. Parking and movement within urban environments have not changed in the past 50 years. 🚨 Unexpected twist in #Brussels! 🛴 The #micromobility scene is buzzing... 📣 Breaking news: Voi Technology and Lime scooters (owned by Uber) have just been granted official permission to continue their operations "for now" in the Brussels-Capital Region. 🎬 A look back at the facts: Initially dismissed following a tender process, these operators were supposed to leave the capital from February 1st. A hasty decision led Voi and Lime to challenge this with Brussels Mobility and to file for an interim injunction with the court. 🔍 At stake: The extension of licenses valid until July 3, 2025 for Lime, and until August 23 for Voi. ⚠️ A court decision that seems not to please everyone... Concern is evident in the office of Elke Van den Brandt, Brussels Minister of Mobility (Groen). There's fear of a setback. 🎞️ As a reminder, Brussels Mobility had limited the operation of dockless scooters to two operators, Bolt and Dott, following a tender in December last year. "We will fight to maintain a limitation on the number of scooters in Brussels, as this is essential to maintain a quality and safe public space for pedestrians and people with reduced mobility." #Yamaha Motor Europe teams up with Swobbee to explore the potential of #swappablebatteries with NEO’s scooters in Berlin 🛵⚡. In response to the increasing demand for #electricvehicles, this collaboration aims to enhance customer experience by offering convenient and safe charging solutions. Starting this July in the heart of Berlin, customers with a 50cc equivalent, AM license can subscribe to Swobbee’s service to receive a Yamaha electric-powered scooter NEO’s on a monthly basis. Subscription includes maintenance, service, insurance, and battery replacement in case of defects. Subscribers can effortlessly swap empty batteries for fully charged ones at Swobbee’s charging stations for free. By integrating the Yamaha NEO’s batteries into Swobbee's advanced charging stations, riders can enjoy seamless, efficient, and secure charging experiences.
