After nearly five and a half years, I've decided it's the right time to move on. This decision is the result of months of reflection, and it was made easier knowing Stack Overflow's Marketing team is in great hands with Eric Martin who will now run Marketing and Joy Cicman Liuzzo continuing to lead Product Marketing. I will officially leave Stack in a few weeks and take some time to focus on the long-neglected book I've been writing for years while also navigating what's next professionally. It's very challenging to make sound decisions on what's next when you're so immersed in what's now, and it's such a gift that I am able to take this pause. I want to thank Joel Spolsky for taking a chance on me, and Prashanth Chandrasekar for being a dream CEO: passionate, trusting, low ego, consultative, and highly-invested in the long-term careers of those he leads. I've stayed at Stack through several transformations: leadership changes, realignments of our business, and a $1.8B acquisition. What has stayed consistent is the agility, intellectual curiosity, and kindness of my colleagues, especially those on the Marketing team. (A special shoutout to Maureen Mandelbaum - my EA - who kept me sane and grounded with her organizational skills but also her sense of humor.) When asked how I could stay 5+ years in a tech CMO job, my answer came easily: the people. It didn't hurt that when I wore a Stack Overflow t-shirt in public (even in NYC with our "don't talk to strangers" policy), a developer would approach me and say, "Hey, do you work at Stack? You got me through college!" I believe Stack's future is bright, and I'll be cheering the company on always. To colleagues, customers, and partners who helped me grow over the years: thank you. More soon. For now, I'm off for a long run on a beautiful New York City day and then to a coffee shop, where it's back to my book.

I feel so fortunate that the acquisition of Stack brought me a new friend. I will miss working with you but know that we will have many laughs beyond this tech world. I cannot WAIT to read your book….are you thinking maybe Michelle Williams for the audio version? She does act the male voices pretty well in Britney’s book….

It's not a farewell, but see you soon! You will be missed dearly! I'm thrilled to see the incredible impact you'll make where you go next. They're going to be SO LUCKY! We hope you can still join our NYC dinners/drinks.
