ECOSYSTEM Conclusively,ecosystem-centric loyalty will provide hitherto unseen competition to today’s retail goliaths, a benefit that will trickle down to the consumer brands and, ultimately, back to the consumer. Thank you What Just Happened for interviewing the International Association of Department Stores - IADS about its mission and how department stores are currently transforming themselves (links in comment). I had the privilege to exchange with Christine Russo from Retail Creative and Consulting Agency about the IADS and its purpose, which has been unchanged since 1928, the year of its creation. We also touch-based a few other topics that are critical for department stores today: ▶ How tech is helping department stores to earn some precious productivity points, either by optimizing their operations or simply by being even better at serving their customers that they know each time better, ▶The challenges of sustainability and how this raises more questions than answer, becoming a clear call for international collaboration (another mission of the IADS), ▶Why physical retail is far from being dead, as flagship stores find themselves placed at the center of a digital ecosystem powered by a customer-centric omnichannel approach (yes, tired words, but still a necessity for all retailers in the world). I truly enjoyed this exchange and thank you Christine for thinking of us and giving us this great opportunity to explain who we are and what we do.
