Secretary, Department of Science & Technology. On Lien from Professor, Department of EE, IIT Bombay. Former Director, IIT Kanpur.

It was great to deliver the 2nd Foundation Day commemorative lecture of COEP Technological University Pune. I stressed the crucial role of innovation in national development and the need to cultivate an environment conducive to innovation during my address on 'Knowledge-based Economy for Viksit Bharat: The Role of Anusandhan National Research Foundation.' DST’s initiatives such as NIDHI and Technology Development Board are designed to nurture startups and entrepreneurship. Urging state universities and institutions to play an active role in advancing R&D to elevate India's stature in global research, I underscored India DST commitment to supporting research and development. Underlining the transformative potential of technology and collaboration in achieving sustainable development goals, I called for increased private sector participation in R&D funding to promote interdisciplinary research and propel India into the ranks of developed nations. Dr. Pramod Chaudhari , Chairman, Board of Governance; Prof. Sunil Bhirud, Vice Chancellor, COEP Technological University Pune ; Shri Amit Paranjape, Board Member; faculty, staff, and students attended the event.

Very nice initiatives to promote indigenous innovations & R & D. Our country has become a very large consumer and less in house production. Eg Our govt. mission is to become leader in renewable power generator as solar electricity generation but still we are dependent on approx. 90% raw materials from China & other countries. We are not making solar cell manufacturing equipment. These are also being imported from China & other countries. Our Govt. Should make conducive environment for making making manufacturing equipment & raw materials in TRUE sprit .🙏🙏

Dear Abhay Karandikar Sir, The DST is doing so much but so much more needs to be done to 'really' bridge the gaps between the Research in Academia and the commercially deployable R&D. The interaction between the Academia and industry also needs to take an orbital shift. Looking forward to seeing you soon Best regards Anil Gupta Dr. Ranjan Banerjee Rangan Banerjee S G Deshmukh Manoj Tiwari Debjit Roy, Ph.D.
