I am pleased to share my recent publication A. Singh, H. B. Salameh, M. Ayyash, and H. Elagla, "A Novel VL-Based Positioning Model for Obstacle Location Sensing and 3D Shape Detection in Crowded Indoor Networks," in IEEE Sensors Letters, doi: 10.1109/LSENS.2023.3300822. In this paper, a novel VL-based positioning system is developed to provide accurate indoor localization of obstacles and sense their three-dimensional (3D) shapes in crowded indoor networks like shopping malls, warehouses, and industrial facilities.  

Excited to share our latest paper in the IEEE Transactions on Communications. This is a collaborative effort with Francesco Verde and Donatella Darsena, at the boundary of electromagnetics and communications. Our research focuses on space-time coding in reconfigurable intelligent surfaces for smart radio environments, with a special emphasis on the implications for downlink multiuser transmissions. https://lnkd.in/dv-ShZ8Z

Proud of our world-class researchers in systems engineering!   Prof. Gregory Gerling and University of Virginia Systems and Information Engineering PhD Alums Bingxu Li, Ph.D. and Steven Hauser were recently awarded the 2024 IEEE Transactions on Haptics Best Paper Award for their paper "Faster indentation influences skin deformation to reduce tactile discriminability of compliant objects." They, along with Russell Sharpe, were also awarded the runner-up best technical conference paper at the IEEE Haptics Symposium on April 11th for work entitled "A transparent hydraulic actuator to visualize finger pad deformation at programmable material compliances." Our recent work in IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices (T-ED) shows the possibility of achieving a negative susceptibility value due to the opposite slopes of local magnetization (M) and demagnetization field (Hdem) in the domain wall region, leading to the gigantic Diamagnetism effect in a Ferromagnetic layer. The first, estable, Bose-Einstein condensate has been achieved using Na-Cs and microwave shields to subtract the "hot" molecules, reducing with this the overall T to near-zero K. This leads to an entangled, known, vibrational state of the molecules, which is useful to study q-bits and non-friction states.

The observation may be not general, there are many factors shall be considered in that study as follows: 1 . The drop beam depth with respect slab depth. 2. The located the maximum stress location ( stress due to vertical shear + moments). 3. If spans length are different, is the beam located in the direction of the longer span which aquire most of gravity slab loads. 4. Is there line loads on the slab. If the beam located exactly under the line load. ( example ; beams at slab edge slab openings). 5. The effectivness of the drop beam is depend also the on column type ( interior , edge, corner). I hope the above points help in conducting comprehensive study on the regard.

In this theory paper we show that nonlinear interactions between photons can lead to a rather suprising effect: super-sensitive measurements using thermal light. Another great mind in history of electricity would be André-Marie Ampère. The name may be familiar to you as the measurement of electric current, the ampere is named after him! Born January 20th 1775 to June 10th 1836, his 61 years were filled with many achievements in electromagnetism. In 1823 Ampère coined the term solenoid after having conceived of the device in 1820. He also provided a physical understanding of the electromagnetic relationship, theorizing the existence of an "electrodynamic molecule" that served as the component element of both electricity and magnetism.
