This year's EuroSeminar in Rome was incredible experience that left a deep impression on me. Experts from around the world came to discuss many critical topics such as climate change & sustainability, humanitarian efforts, peace building (including experts on Russia/Ukraine and Israel/Palestine), entrepreneurship, and more. The best part of all is that all of these topics were discussed within the context of what we can personally do to contribute to our communities while building our faith and the faith of others.
I was especially impacted by the presentations of Kimberlie Orr, both during this EuroSeminar and the previous one in London. Her current profession focuses on the cross-sections of climate change, human mobility issues, and religious liberties. All of these topics I find important. All of these topics I tend to read about and discuss in isolation. I now see that all of these topics are 100% connected. It is impossible to stop climate change, solve refugee crises, and protect religious freedom by simply attacking them in isolation. Real solutions and real healing require a holistic approach. It requires faith in a greater humanity, faith in a greater purpose, and faith in a greater power. It requires true "integration" - a word I am learning to apply more in my life.
The EuroSeminar ended by asking, "Quindi?" Italian for "So?" or "So now what?"
I know we can't all be global leaders in climate change, humanitarian efforts, religious freedom, etc. However, we can all "integrate" small things. For me? I am going to increase the amount I recycle and ride my bike more. I also am going to try and join some inter faith community projects. I know that by taking little steps now, more doors will open later. With a little effort and a little faith, God can "part the red seas" for us to do amazing things with the short life we have on this planet.
It has been a pleasure to spend the week with you all in the EuroSeminar Rome 2023.
Looking forward to meeting with you all soon again.
