not an easy step to go, but increasing costs need new ideas on selling wine for a better price. One point could obviously be to work on the packaging, where we can help. Very interesting article by Robert Joseph.
A few personal thoughts and experiences that might help some wineries raise their prices https://lnkd.in/eCJ5dvh8

This is a great summary by Mark - someone who understands BC wine licensing and the implications of a grape shortage on BC wineries very well. Also a very informative interview on the radio this morning. To add my thoughts, while government agriculture risk management programs like Production Insurance and AgriStability can provide welcome assistance, getting compensation for the value of the grapes is of limited utility if replacement grapes can't be sourced or are cost prohibitive. Wineries make their profits from making wine from their grapes, not from the grapes themselves. No grapes means big losses for wineries, even if the government provides compensation for grape value.
Deep freeze creates awful problems for BC wineries. A few thoughts ... https://lnkd.in/gQf7Dtgr

I'm interested in learning about any licensing or reporting challenges you've faced in the first half of 2024, especially given the diversity the same process can take between different businesses. Overall U.S. beer volume sales were down 3% in 2022, of the $115 billion U.S. beer market — as it was previously … … $100 billion in 2021. That’s a >15% growth curve 😳 Do you know whether the market that you compete in — in 2022, was up in sales volume, had declined in sales, or something else was effecting pricing in your industry? You should. I mean, how do you decide what markets or companies to direct your marketing activities toward — especially on LinkedIn, and how this should directly influence your pricing? Because this has influenced mine — both in market and pricing — as I was able to better focus on markets that matter and I raised my pricing to reflect what my clients wanted. By the way, have you changed your pricing recently and what influenced this change? Let’s dig in to what influenced my firm … The primary reasons for the larger dollar sales increase in my industry and markets (Beer) were price increases and the continued shift back in beer volume to bars and restaurants from packaged sales. And craft brewer volume sales remained on par with 2021, raising small and independent brewers’ share of the U.S. beer market (by volume) to 13+%. That means the rest of the U.S. market was at 87%! Wow. This is one reason I course-corrected. And I’m a math and data nerd 🤓 One of my sources is the Brewers Association as they do a very good job of defining craft brewers, as well as the six craft brewer markets segments, defined by them. Do you have an “Insights & Analysis” database that you use to make concrete directional decisions or do you just follow someone on LinkedIn as if you were a lemming? You can have a great week, truly, — just know which pond to fish in. #BigData #PredictiveAnalytics #MachineLearning #ForwardThinkingInsights #BuyingTrends #Beer #CraftBeer #BeerInsights #BeerNews #Breweries #Taprooms #Brewpubs #Bars #Restaurants #Cstores #GroceryStores #WholesaleClubs #DrugStores and more 😎 ✦ ✦ ✦ Stephen Carter King Chief Beerconomist • Team Leader • CEO of Beerconomy & Co. a subsidiary of Kings Crossing Steve@KingsCrossing.com Beerconomy & Co. is the leading advisor on understanding the complexities of consumer beer behavior

Here’s a sneak peek from our 2023 South Africa Industry Report, based on data gathered by our tool, tastric. 🔗📑 During 2023, South African wineries recorded a high number of visitor profiles, with the high and low seasons showing a clear distinction. Yet, even during low season, the number of visitor profiles collected remained notably high, marking a distinct shift from the patterns observed in 2022. This emphasises the importance for wineries, tasting room managers and sales representatives to maintain consistent sales strategies throughout the year. 🤝🏻 During quieter phases, sales representatives are encouraged to focus on customer engagement and relationship-building, capitalising on the increased time available in the tasting room to build relationships and educate visitors about the winery’s offerings. This is an opportune time to highlight the unique qualities of each wine. 🗣️ Conversely, in busier periods, adopting ‘easy but effective’ up-selling techniques, such as exclusive bundle offers or promotions, can incentivise customers to increase their total spend💳 “Implementing smart sales strategies not only enhances the customer experience but also fuels increased sales and cultivates customer loyalty.” - Moritz Schreiner, Co-Founder of tastric Stay tuned for the full report! 📊 Maximilian Schiefer Moritz Schreiner Elizabeth Nel Shoana Jeffrey #datacollection #tastric #winedata #southafrica #wosa #southafricanwine
