So it’s the last working day of the week which means I’ve officially spent 6 months at Khabib Gym by Palms Sports So, here are 6 things I have learnt in 6 months since joining the team... 1. You can't put a price on a good manager. 2. Surviving or thriving? A good company culture and a positive working environment will really bring out the best in you and will reflect in your performance. 3. Reward and Recognition should be for everyone, not just top performers. Incentivizing the same 5-10 people is not motivational or inspiring for anyone. 4. You should ENJOY getting up and going to work every day. Life is too short for rubbish jobs that make you miserable. 5. The better the tools, the better the results. It goes without saying you can't cut corners and expect to be top of the tree. 6. Treat others how you would like to be treated. Every member of my team takes so much pride in what they do and it shows. Take this as your daily dose of motivation that even if you're not where you want to be right now, it can all change in a day if you put yourself out there and embrace change and challenges!

🗣 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 "𝐲𝐞𝐬" 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝. And it won't make you feel fulfilled either. You know that feeling when you’re bored, unchallenged, and unfulfilled at work? You feel like you’re not maximizing your talent and you have more to give! Maybe you’re ready for the next level (haay promotion 👋🏾) and you’re driven to prove your worth. So you start saying yes…a lot. Yes to all of the learning opportunities, yes to joining the committees, yes to helping the team organize XYZ, and so on. You’re raising your hand for all the things because you’re convinced that this is what will make you happy or get you the promotion that you feel you deserve. So then what? Your calendar starts to fill up fast, you begin juggling all sorts of projects in addition to your day-to-day responsibilities, and when you finally take a moment to breathe you realize that you’re still not fulfilled or any closer to that next level you’re striving for. I've been working for the last couple of weeks on something that will support you in maintaining your own boundaries at work so that you can focus on the work that matters most, and understand how to know what to spend your time on. I GOT IT ALL WRONG! In my earlier leadership roles, such as leading camp counselors, I viewed our team as a 'family'. 🏡 While the sentiment was comforting, I came to understand that work isn't quite like family, and it's misleading to see it that way. In combat sports, where I've spent countless hours, it's all about individual prowess. Yet, moving to Canada exposed me to the world of team sports. And that's when it clicked. A successful business team is similar to a professional sports team.🏀🏆 In my work today, I see the parallels even more clearly: - Performance over Tenure: It’s not about how long you’ve been with us, but how you play the game. ⏳➡️🎖 - Developmental Vision: We aim to nurture talent, guiding them from the junior leagues to be tomorrow’s superstars. 🌱➡️🌟 - Dynamic Growth: As in sports, our team roster keeps evolving and growing. 👥➡️🌍 - Strategic Play: Every move, every decision is about out-thinking the competition and aligning our strategies for the win. 🧠🔍 A family provides unconditional love. But a sports team? It thrives on effort, performance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. It's results-driven and celebrates each achievement. 🏁 To all the new members joining us: Welcome to our professional sports team! 🙌 Let's rally together, strategize, and clinch those championships. In our Life Journey, we all crave acknowledgment and motivation from those around us. It's natural to want to be cheered on, supported, and valued by others. Being a cheerleader in someone's life involves more than just offering compliments or words of encouragement. It's about actively listening, providing constructive feedback, and celebrating their achievements, no matter how big or small. It's about recognizing their efforts, strengths, and unique qualities that make them who they are. Let's join hands to build a better world where everyone feels appreciated. 

Believing in yourself is the key to success

When you reach the top, you need to become your own cheerleader more than ever. You must keep yourself motivated and accountable because staying on top requires a whole new level of commitment and resilience. The landscape changes, the competition evolves, and those who fail to adapt quickly find themselves slipping back down. Many high achievers struggle with this transition. They've hustled for years to reach their current position, only to realize that staying there is a completely different game. We've seen it in sports, in business, in the corporate world – reaching the pinnacle is just the beginning. One of the biggest challenges is the need for self-accountability. When you're at the top, there's no one pushing you but yourself. And with plenty of hungry competitors nipping at your heels, you can't afford to let your guard down. That's why it's crucial to build your own accountability system, surround yourself with like-minded individuals, and create an environment that fosters growth and success. Being at the top can be lonely, and while it may seem like you have it all from the outside, it's also a time when you need to be extremely selective about who you allow into your inner circle. So, if you find yourself at the top, remember: the journey doesn't end there. It's just the beginning of a new chapter, one that requires even more dedication, focus, and determination.
