A new year, #2024, is to come. In my professional work to create #productive and #attractive #workplaces where people come together and generate the added value that mainly occurs when we meet physically, I am driven by inspiration. The last 15 years within #vasakronan and now with #nrwholdings. I always revolve around #experiences and the impact of the #experienceeconomy on our society and its workplaces. Some of the stars that have inspired me so far in this work are, of course, Joe Pine (#Theexperienceeconomy) and Ronald Van Den Hoff (Society 3.0), but also luminaries like Mihaly #Csikszentmihalyi (#Flow - The #Psyhcology Of Optimal Experiences), authors and existentialists as Karin Boye/Tove Jansson/Soren Kierkegaard, Aaron Antonovsky (The Handbook of #Salutogenesis), Jesper Juul (Family Life), Elinor Ostrom (Governing the Commons), Liza Rudolfsson (Goldfish or Sardine? How to increase adaptability in companies and organizations.) Thomas Nathorst-Böös (Room for Success), Bo Ahrenfelt (Change as a state) Hans Werthen (You don't sell Christmas trees on Boxing Day), Jan Wallander (Budget - an unnecessary evil), and many, many more that I probably forgot to mention. Now, a new star has lit up in the sky where happy experiences are created, Micael Dahlen. It will be exciting to follow the inductive syntheses that arise in the wake of these forces. I recently posted about a conversation I had with Mark Walmsley FCIM FRSA AGSM asking people in my network about where they believe to be the “Heart of Europe”. Poland came in first, Slovakia second and Germany third. But I have to say, the results were not the same for in-person conversations. Having spoken to over 50 people from all over the world, the majority named Germany and Austria as their guesses, myself included actually. So why do many, including Eastern European identifying people, guess countries outside of Eastern Europe? According to my conversations, people from the Central & Eastern European (CEE) segment, which largely includes countries from the former Eastern Bloc, feel a sense of cultural othering. This has been exacerbated by Brexit and the war in Ukraine, with stereotypes circulating around what professions CEE people take on (and often what class they fit into by default), and Russian-speaking people facing discrimination. This isn’t new, but has been felt strongly by the community, and has been covered at length by organisations like Centrala and artists like Stephanie Handjiiska - Artist. So, when Mark mentioned that in talking about Eastern Europe in a positive way as part of my work on IzbaArts.com to promote creatives from the region, I should use the phrase “art from the heart of Europe”, I was both surprised and hopeful. And so, together we found out than the heart of Europe by most recent accounts is in Slovakia, and some older ones indicating it is in Poland, with Austria being the “gateway to Eastern Europe”. Diversity is a beautiful thing ❤️ I am from Poland who has been living in the UK for the last 6 years Wanted to bring you some interesting facts about beginning of May in my home country "𝐌𝐚𝐣ó𝐰𝐤𝐚" is a Polish term referring to the May Day holiday period, typically spanning from May 1st to May 3rd. It's a time when people in Poland take advantage of the favorable weather to enjoy outdoor activities and relaxation. Here's a breakdown of each day:   1. 𝐌𝐚𝐲 1𝐬𝐭 - 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲 (Ś𝐰𝐢ę𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲): ◦ May 1st is International Workers' Day, celebrated in many countries around the world. ◦ In Poland, it's called "Święto Pracy" (Labor Day), and it's a public holiday. ◦ People often participate in parades, demonstrations, or simply spend time with family and friends. ◦ It marks the beginning of the Majówka holiday period 2. The election year in Germany and Europe kicks off in May 2024. 📣 The campaign calls to stand up for democratic values and a diverse and pluralistic society. What better way to do this, than by casting your vote for democratic parties in all upcoming elections? The events industry plays a crucial role in facilitating exchange between people from different countries and cultures. At medical and scientific congresses, experts from around the world come together to collectively advance the best medical care for all people. "Congresses serve as a platform for the international exchange of knowledge, experiences, and innovations. We want to ensure that speakers, experts, guests, visitors, and participants feel welcome at our events in Germany and find an atmosphere of trust and friendship. On this day of German re-union (October 3rd) I have now spent 2 months in Berlin, and I have to say: “WHAT A CITY”! Berlin has a magnificent history, many scars and also remarkable healings. It expresses anarchistic wildness and profound responsibility that punches in the face every day by looking back at the country’s and cities greatness as well as the historical darkness of both inhuman separation of family friends and lovers during the cold war as the darkness of fascism and intolerance up to and during the second World War. The darkness of despotism is still felt, its negative impact is still here 34 years after the fall of the wall. Berlin is not only celebrating its re-union today, it’s also the first time that a football club from former East-Germany, Union Berlin, plays a home match at the group stages of Champions League. The match is at the Olympia Stadion, today a sign of union and compassion – in 1936 it was the centre of a despot’s propaganda machine. Today it is the arena for Union Berlin – and next summer the place for the final of European 2024 Football Championship. Berlin is a multicultural and open city. It has experienced the dark side of humans and can teach us a lot about tolerance – a tolerance we desperately need in a world where each elections seems to divide more than unite the population(s). We need to build a common European and global responsibility – That is what re-union is also about, in – and outside of Berlin and Germany.

Is Berlin going down or simply transforming into a new phase? After 1989 and till approx. 2019 Berlin didn’t need any greater strategic political vision to become „the place to be“. Everyone who wanted to be at the forefront of creativity, art, entrepreneurship and all kinds of development felt a strong pull and people from all over Germany, Europe and the world came. The historical coincidence of Germanys reunification created a unique environment offering free or cheap space to live, work and play. This unique set-up created some exceptional and powerful ecosystems from electronic music (earlier) to entrepreneurship (later). From my perspective this „post German reunification era“ in Berlin is over. There are no free or cheap places to live and work anymore and many of the former reasons that pulled people into the city are not valid anymore. However I strongly believe that there are many important narratives that would be applicable for Berlins future, but I don’t see any of these discussed within the local politics (at least not public). Therefore I would love to kick-off a discussion about the future of our city with you. You think it’s not about you? Well, we already know that the recent fire attacks in Poland were ordered and planned (investigations are ongoing). In addition, Russia is repeatedly disrupting the GPS of planes and (to be precise, 2309 Ryanair flights over Poland in the 8 months to March 2024). * Disinformation divides us, arouses resentment and distrust of politicians (yes yes I know, many of them suck, but not all). It can lead to increased social and political tensions that weaken an already limping democracy. * Russian actions are aimed at undermining our faith in governments, media and public institutions. They want us to doubt the EU and each other. * By supporting extreme and populist parties, Russia seeks to wreck Europe from within by destabilizing its workings and using democratic principles to destroy it. * Mass participation in this election will show that we are united_ ready_ to fight for the future of Europe. Every vote is a small brick of something bigger, a signal that we will not be fooled by false narratives. * Your vote does matter, and pleaseeeee do not let this turnout be at 50%. Let’s not let misinformation being us to this point: „well all politicians are the same” (that’s not true). * We are going to the European Parliament elections in 2024, and we will not surrender Europe to the agents of the world’s most wanted bastard. An interesting and somewhat sobering article reflecting the far-right rumblings that seem to be happening all over Europe - including, in this case, Germany - and how hosting major international sporting events can bring these to the surface 👇 I was fortunate enough to spend the World Cup summer of 2006 in Germany, the host nation, as a student on my year abroad. I loved the atmosphere at the time - there was a real buzz in the air, lots of banter, and it was really refreshing to stumble across tourists from England travelling to Germany for the first time and finding, to their surprise, that there was actually so much more to this country than tired stereotypes dating back the the War (and the old football rivalry). Maybe I was just lucky - I was based in Heidelberg, a cosmopolitan university town of scholars and intellectuals - or just young and naive, but I didn't experience the darker side of this stirring up of national support as described in this article. Yet I can see how it could have marked a watershed moment in terms of nationalist expression in Germany. Here in the UK, too, things can get nasty when emotions are running high on big sporting occasions, and those on the more extreme fringes can unfortunately take advantage of this to cross the line into downright hostility. Here's hoping what should be a chance to showcase Europe's diversity on the sporting stage turns out to be just that and not a channel for anything more sinister. 🤞 #LITranslators #Euro2024 #Sport #Politics #Translation #German
