Last fall, when we opened The Domino’s Village at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, I was profoundly moved knowing that this milestone was made possible through the generosity and extraordinary kindness of our customers across the country. Today, as we share that over $16 million was donated to St. Jude in 2023, I am reminded of that deep sense of gratitude.     This remarkable achievement is a testament to our purpose to Feed the Power of Possible – where spare change and small donations, taken collectively, have provided a home and support for countless families bravely battling childhood cancer. I am immensely grateful to our customers, franchisees, and to St. Jude for their leadership in the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer. A WONDERFUL RESULT..BUT PLEASE DON'T FORGET.......... By any measurement, the $77.5 million that was raised last weekend for Telethon is remarkable. Through my own charities, we have contributed to the Telethon Kids Institute over the years where the work done for children is world-class. But as Perth's elite and A-listers fall over each other to be part of the Telethon success story, perhaps it's a good time to remind everyone that here in WA, that there are also many much smaller charities, in many fields, who carry-out truly wonderful work and where a 'few pennies' from Perth's wealthy families and companies would make an enormous difference. I can't help but reflect that as WA's Premier, Roger Cook, donated $12 million to Telethon, whether it may have been better to leave the big money donations to his mates in the giant resources sector, and direct just a fraction of this money into those smaller charities to help the homeless, or families in need of basic food for example. There are also charities that provide support for siblings of the kids living with cancer, for women with breast cancer; they too need to be remembered. We all should be very proud of Telethon, but I just hope that the big-end-of town players here in Perth need keep in mind that undertaking research to help and make a difference to thousands of children, as Telethon does, must always be the core objective rather than it to become a 'means-to-an-end'. So as we cheer the success of Telethon, let's not overlook all those smaller charities and their many dedicated volunteers who are making an outstanding contribution to our state and nation, and who are really making a huge difference to so many lives - despite limited financial support. #telethon #charity #government #support #cancer #research #children
