This resume landed me an interview at Google, by clicking ‘Apply’ online & no – I did not know anyone at Google. With the increasing number of tech layoffs, I want YOU to have a base of what recruiters looking for in a resume. - I kept my education at the top because I was still a student.  - I kept the focus of my experience bullet points to analytics, despite my varying job titles.  - I spent 90% of the resume space writing about my experiences. For so many – people are asked to unexpectedly leave their jobs during a layoff. They have to get their finances in order (Talk to someone at Facet for unexpected moments like this: https://lnkd.in/efBPZJ2y) and start the job search. My hope is to connect recruiters and hiring managers with great talent in my network, so if you have any open roles + looking to be hired, please comment below so my 300K followers can potentially see it 🙌 #LaidOff #Resume #FacetPartner #Help

One of the best things I've done with a resume is to ask recruiters "what job do you think I'm going for?" If the answer was not exactly the job I was going for – Then I knew I needed to revamp my resume. This was so important to me because I needed to get a job where I could support both me and my family (that's why I work with Facet to enable other's financially: https://facetwealth.com/jerryjhlee/?utm_campaign=jerry-lee_linkedin_core&utm_medium=influencer&utm_source=influencer&utm_content=q1-2023_layoffs).

Bruh. My eyes are bleeding. 👀 I bet the Google recruiters would have appreciated some whites space and giving the content a little room to breathe.

Based on the resume and your profile this resume got you an interview at Google in 2017. Resumes and hiring has changed since then, just thought you should know from a recruiter in real time.

I have not gotten much ZERO from job search’s on LinkedIn. The number item is all the résumé writers wanting to give you a free review and then an quote to make changes. They all want to make changes. Minimal response from recruiters. It’s all about how contacts in Rolodex, not how many got interviewed and hired. The matrix has changed. I get 5-10 email’s daily from recruiters in India. They don’t know what the job is, or your background. It’s all a Rolodex numbers game now.

Love reading the comments about how bad it is (recruiters all want something different) yet it got you the interview. Content trumps all always. If they're not looking at your resume because of the way it looks...then they're not doing their job. AND...this is why candidates are frustrated. There are good candidates not getting a look because of font?? Really?? Tell me what you accomplished and achieved in each position and I'll call you if I want you to do those things for our organization. Or....tell me what you are looking to learn....that will catch my eye as well.

Apparently there are a lot of folks here who don't understand how job seeker resumes work. So as a public service to those who may be in that boat: A job seeker's resume's main purpose is to secure a job interview with a potential employer. This resume secured a job interview with a potential employer. Therefore, without a doubt, this was an effective resume for this particular employer at this particular time. Don't like this resume? Think it should be different? Have all kinds of suggestions to make it better? Wonderful ... let me suggest that you craft a resume, submit it to a job, get called in for an interview, and then post it here on LI so that everyone can see how you did it for that particular job at that particular time. I'd be willing to bet (although I could certainly be wrong) that you could have a resume that was formatted radically different that would secure an interview, and that someone else could submit an identical resume that would be completely ignored. In fact, I'd bet that this resume submitted to different reviewers might have failed. Why? Because there is no one-way, only-way, right-way, perfect-way, or guaranteed-way to write a resume that works for all job seekers, all the time, for every job

I’ve been an RN for 20 years and I want to break into the analytics side of healthcare. Because I don’t have an IT background it’s proven very difficult. I can’t get the experience because I don’t have the experience. It’s super frustrating.

Could I suggest this? Linkedin has a marvelous tool that enables recruiters to search the platform for potential candidates. So I always recommend to people that they start with their LInkedin profile first. And, as a test, pop your title into that little left hand search box and see who comes up. If it isn't people in your field, revise your title. If people like you do turn up, start following them, and commenting on their posts (that's the way you can leverage Linkedin to build a network). Also, if you are looking use that green banner! I'm a career strategist, but my "tribe" is recruiters...every recruiter will tell you that they look for people who are open to work first.

Thanks for sharing! Here’s my recently revamped resume. My background is all over the place and I’m done trying to hide that. I’m not super actively looking, but if anyone sees this and thinks “I want to know more” reach out! I know it’s not for everyone. Maybe not even for most people. And that’s ok. I’m looking for a place that is for me. And if I don’t find it, I intend on creating it. (Full version available on my profile)
