This was SURREAL! I’ve been going to this industry event (PerformX Live) since 2022 - the first one they held was just after we opened UNTIL Soho. I remember going the first year; we went around and talked to people - we didn’t know anyone, no one knew what we were doing, and when we told people about UNTIL, no one really understood it. 🤷🏽♂️ They looked at us like we had three heads! We felt like industry outsiders. So, to be asked to deliver a masterclass this year, on the main stage, sharing the platform with other massive players in the industry, felt like a really proud moment for our team. 🙌 It was a huge shift for us - loads of people knew what we were doing this time, and they understood our brand. Daniel Chappell and I had the opportunity to talk about UNTIL and our community of talented practitioners. Many of our solopreneur members have built really successful businesses. 🚀 How? Here are some of our key takeaways for solopreneurs: 👉 Carve out your niche (your speciality, your audience, your marketing channels) - be known as WORLD CLASS for that. 👉 The best solopreneurs have a niche within a niche, they have a growth mindset, and they have a strong referral network. 👉 As a solopreneur, you don’t have to do everything yourself. Think WHO, not HOW. You can’t be the best at everything, focus on what you’re BRILLIANT at. 👉 Your clients are not buying hours, they are buying an OUTCOME. Think about how you are contributing to that outcome. The best solopreneurs have considered every step in their customer’s journey. 👉 Get clear on what your PURPOSE is, and use it as a filter for every hour of your day. Look at what you’re doing and ask yourself: ‘Is this helping me to deliver my purpose?’ AND 👉 Experimentation is critical; you either win or you LEARN. You should be speaking and hosting events to reach your sales goals…. If you’re not getting as many clients as you want or your marketing efforts seem dismal, there could be a number of reasons why. One issue is that you may not be going back to the basics of looking at your offer, assessing the market, communicating your promise or drilling down your process. When you are selling a higher ticket offer, the event holds the weight of your ability to magnetize + a follow-up plan to close more clients. While the event is essential to your launch, the pre-launch and post-launch needs to be intentionally mapped out for your sales. I cannot stress this enough. The approach that I teach can work whether you are pivoting in your niche or feel the need to rebrand (which is often just a partial rebrand if you’re only tapping into a different market). At any rate, you don’t have time to waste on outdated marketing strategies. You have to be super clear on who your ideal client is - to build your offers, marketing and business model around them. My client-centric framework helps laser-focus your positioning for growth and sustainability. General content alone will NEVER cut it now that buyers want applied learning. And if you don’t evolve WITH the changing demands, you’ll be left behind. It’s not about ads- because if you haven’t noticed, people are experiencing ad fatigue right now. And it’s not about more info products either. You’ll waste more time creating products and low-priced memberships with no one to sell them to anyway. People are craving live experiences and communities. Hosting virtual events can be a powerful tool for growing your business - if the audience shows up! With 50% or less of those registered actually attending the event live, many hosts are wondering what they need to change. While charging a small ticket fee can increase attendance, there are other ways to boost your show rate without charging your attendees. ✔️Promote your event through multiple channels ✔️Offer valuable content, including an event promise that touches their pain point logically AND emotionally ✔️Create a sense of exclusivity. Only you can provide your skill set and perspective. ✔️Host a pre-event webinar or Q&A session. This is a great time to meet the speakers and provides an additional touch point.  ✔️Hit the easy button. For guest speakers that means promotional materials created for them. For guests that means a quick registration.  ✔️Follow up with attendees, before the event even begins. Text messages or quick DMs are great. After the event, provide ways for them to connect with speakers and each other, a Facebook group is perfect.  ✔️From podcasts, ads, social posts, and email, have a clear and compelling call to action that leads to the event. Even with all of these steps, sometimes charging for tickets is the right answer. Keep in mind that a ticket costing $100 or less has a 60% average show rate, while a ticket over $200 has an 80% show rate.
