Understanding Phone Bot Farms and Their Negative Impact After seeing Roman Sheremeta's LinkedIn post about phone bot farms, I was intrigued by their operation and impact. These farms use bots to exploit smartphone apps, spreading propaganda, misinformation, and conducting fraudulent activities. The negative consequences include invasion of privacy, financial losses, erosion of trust, resource drain, security risks, and misinformation propagation. It's crucial to adopt technological solutions, regulatory measures, public awareness, and collaborative efforts to combat these threats. Rediscovering My First Steps in AI It's been a while since I posted to my blog, but working on some old files this weekend jogged my memory of my first dabble in AI back in 2003. While working with Lotus Notes, I explored alternative development platforms, eventually deploying a Java system to generate PDFs from real estate forms. This hands-on experience paved the way for my AI curiosity. One of my most memorable projects was developing a rudimentary chat bot integrated with our Lotus messaging system. Although it was a simple application, it taught me valuable lessons about AI's potential and limitations. An amusing "oops" moment with my manager's message highlighted the need for a solid business case behind tech explorations. These early experiments were pivotal, underscoring the importance of adaptability and continuous learning.
