If I asked you where the largest parking facility in the world was, what's your guess? North America, right? Well, surprise! It was right here in sunny Seville, Spain. 🇪🇸🌞 This is the massive parking lot during the Expo '92 🌈, where 40,000 cars, 1,410 buses, and 2,578 service vehicles could find a spot. Can you imagine the chaos? 😯 Another missed opportunity to streamline connections between the main train station, the historical center, and this area - partially abandoned now and very close to business hubs and event areas. 💼 🎸 Seville could have been a global leader, with happier, less car-dependent residents and significantly reduced heat island effects. 🚇 🌳 🚲 Can you think of a worse way to use a city's riverbank? #seville #expo92 #cartuja #parking #sevilla #urbanmobility · EIT Urban Mobility

🚗🛣️ Amsterdam is embracing 30km/h! Approximately 80% of the city's roads are undergoing a transition to a reduced speed limit of 30km/h. This change aims to enhance road safety and create a more secure environment for all road users. - At 30km/h, the braking distance drastically reduces to 13 meters, less than half the distance required at 50km/h (27 meters). This reduction in speed significantly enhances the potential for avoiding collisions or minimizing their impact - Authorities anticipate a substantial decrease of 20 to 30% in severe accidents - The likelihood of a pedestrian surviving an accident at this speed rises to an impressive 95% - The reduction in speeds means that traffic noise is anticipated to be halved. The revised speed limits for a majority of the city offer a roadmap for other cities to make strong, effective changes in order to save lives! 🚦🌆 https://lnkd.in/gc5tjwYD https://lnkd.in/efxcUp4Q AMS Institute City of Amsterdam Dutch Cycling Embassy

Many urban residents increasingly crave fresh air and the chance to connect with nature right where they live. 🌲 The Făget Forest Park, the largest green space in Cluj-Napoca 🇷🇴 and a designated Natura 2000 site, offers precisely this: an abundance of opportunities for outdoor recreation amidst natural beauty. This led to the inception of the “Făget Forest Park: Cluj's Green Lung” project – a comprehensive plan to manage and enhance the Făget Forest Park for multiple uses. The concept? Establishing a network of forest parks integrated into a green belt encircling the city, aiming to preserve ecosystems, stimulate the economy, foster social inclusion, provide recreational spaces, and attract tourists. 🏆 The project received a New European Bauhaus Prize in 2024 in the "Reconnecting with Nature" category, for its efforts in managing recreation and conserving this expansive forest park. Congratulations to the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona for the recognition received on Stirile ProTV, a major Romanian TV channel! I want to congratulate our counterparts from the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, highlighted as a model for other countries on Știrile ProTV. Their objective, as in all metropolitan areas, is to maximize the quality of life for citizens in every aspect. As Ramon M. Torra i Xicoy, the manager of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, pointed out in the news report, their commitment to providing consistent quality in implemented projects and conditions across all areas ensures there is no distinct periphery in the Spanish metropolis. The recognition of our counterparts' achievements in Spain demonstrates that: · In 14 years of operation, significant and impactful changes can be made, visibly improving roads, public transport, waste collection, cleanliness, green spaces, and playgrounds. · Prioritizing the creation of better, more connected, and more sustainable urban communities is essential for public discussion. https://lnkd.in/dW7w9nSy Xavier Tiana Casablancas Gratian Mihailescu Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB) #AreaMetropolitanadeBarcelona #ProTV #ADIZMB #UrbanDevelopment #SustainableCities #UrbanInnovation #UrbanCommunities #PublicTransport #GreenSpaces #UrbanDevelopment #Inspiration #UrbanSustainability

Theres a common theme around #escooters, whenever you dive into the data its usually #bikes and #walking that suffer and usage falls. Having said that, i would prefer a scooter to whiz by me than a 3 ton Range Rover sport. Following on from #paris bidding 'Au revoir' to e-scooters, daily trips per bike are up to 3.4! This raises the question, how do we have an ecosystem of shared vehicles but also maintain #activetravel ? UITP #bikeshare #sustainabletransport
🚴♀️ Are people making the switch? 🚴♂️ After Paris bid adieu to shared scooters this year, residents have turned to shared bikes instead! The numbers don't lie - daily trips per vehicle jumped 54% from 2.2 in 2022 to 3.4 in 2023. It's clear that shared services are here to stay!

LEZs, ULEZs, ZEZs and CAZs are multiplying in Europe. And this trend is no longer restricted to major conurbations, it is also gaining traction in mid-sized cities. In addition to boosting the share of low and zero emissions vehicles in urban environments, it also favors the use of shared mobility solutions, be they with 4, 3 or 2 wheels. In Italy, for example, according to the Italian National Observatory of Shared Mobility, there was a remarkable 41% increase in shared mobility trips in 2022. The European Shared Mobility Index reveals that "free floating" bikes recorded the strongest growth in Europe in the first quarter of 2023, with 33% year-on-year increase in trips. In-station bicycles use also increased significantly, by 12%. Urban access regulations in European cities are a clear invitation to enlarge our range of mobility solutions to support individuals and businesses in their daily moves. December 2023 a new airport opens to serve Tulum. Can we peek into the future? Using one of our favorite alternative data sources, location intelligence, we looked at where travelers go after they leave the Cancun airport. The answer of all devices passing through the Cancun airport — 9.6% end up in Tulum, 23.2% in Playa De Carmen, and 65.6% in the Cancun resort area itself with the remainder in other areas including Cozumel and Holbox Island. But what if we bifurcate this by home country? The difference is striking, with US visitors showing a stronger preference for Tulum vs. Mexico visitors (excluding residents of the local cities) with 15.8% of US devices ending up in the Tulum area compared to only 4.2% of Mexican devices. But with all the uncertainty around demand and fuel how is the US - Mexico market looking? Josephine Dietrich #tellingthestory #datapowered #✈️

The cities of Taipei and New Taipei recently rolled out a Megacity Pass that allows you access to buses, metro, trains and even bicycle rentals for 30 days for NT$1,200. I strongly applaud this, as integrated ticketing is a crucial foundation in developing an integrated public transport system. It will make travelling on public transport so much easier! #urbanism #urbanplanning #urbandesign #publictransport #transportplanning
