INNOVATIVE RECYCLING: One of the most pressing environmental issues of our generation is tackling the hundreds of millions of tons of single-use plastic that litter our oceans and land. Thankfully, change is afoot with new innovations, turning the polluting 😔 linear economy [make-take-dispose] into a positive circular ♻ economy, similar to infinite glass recycling. This article sheds light on the process, and provides hope, given that 90% of plastics are currently not recycled. If you have an embryonic innovation which can turn plastics into a valuable renewable resource, grants are available to "close the loop on the plastics lifecycle". #business #plastics #recycling #innovation #grantfunding

“from the early days of recycling, plastic makers, including oil and gas companies, knew that it wasn’t a viable solution to deal with increasing amounts of waste … the industry appears to have championed recycling mainly for its public relations value, rather than as a tool for avoiding environmental damage” ‼ Reduce is the most important R - first and foremost, we must make less and waste less. ♻ Recycling should be a tool only to make the plastic we MUST use less harmful to our planet, the same way carbon credits are a tool to employ ONLY after we’ve drastically reduced emissions in the first place. Software-driven manufacturing empowers us to do both - only make what we need, and use resources 90% more efficiently than in traditional supply chains.

This month we analyse the key players in the recycling of plastics, not the direct actors but those who also indirectly promote change and who have been gradually achieving a circularity in recycled plastics. An interesting analysis that we invite you to read in our blog. #recycledplastics #recycledplasticactors #circulareconomy #recycledplasticsale #onlyplastspain https://lnkd.in/dWqdqwpd

MOLECULAR RECYCLING – We at Eastman are proud members of the Coalition to Advance Molecular Recycling as we utilize the power of molecular recycling to further drive circularity in the textile industry. According to a new The Harris Poll survey in collaboration with the Coalition, molecular and mechanical recycling are considered ideal forms of recycling to reduce the environmental impact of plastics among the majority of Americans. It’s true that we need both to create value from plastic waste - together, mechanical and molecular recycling can accept almost every type of plastic - and it’s exciting to see public awareness and support growing. We hope this finding kickstarts a valuable conversation around circularity! Check out the full press release below and follow us to learn more about how we give new life to waste in Naia™ Renew fibers. #sustainability #circularity #recycling #molecularrecycling #harrispoll #survey #plasticwaste

At Sixto Packaging we want to be part of the genuine solution, to follow the science, and not be just another green washing blow horn. Becoming a sponsor of the Consortium for Waste Circularity fits our family values. We as a society, cannot continue to bury trash in landfills, burn it, or worse, throw it into our oceans. Something must change. And although we support reducing and recycling efforts, supporting CWC to create circularity for all waste is the overarching goal Sixto Packaging believes is needed to create a viable and truly sustainable circular economy. Transforming waste into eco-methanol that can produce virgin plastic again is the future of waste management and the packaging industry. CWC brings several pieces of this puzzle together. I strongly urge everyone to learn more at: www.wastecircularity.org

Continuing to pile our refuse into heaps at landfills only exacerbates our waste problem. Advanced recycling waste-to-syngas technology has the potential to fundamentally transform waste handling.

🌱 Embracing #chemicalrecycling is not just an opportunity but a necessity for the UK's sustainability journey. We're dealing with materials that currently lack positive end-of-life scenarios. Mechanical recycling and chemical recycling are complementary – no doubt! – and only through that perspective can we recycle and #upcycle as much as possible of a post-consumer plastic waste. 🔄 Non-mechanical, like chemical recycling, complements traditional infrastructure by preventing landfill or incineration of fossil resources. It enables the creation of high-quality post-consumer food-grade film, a game-changer in food packaging. This sector represents a significant plastic film market, and for true circularity, we must recycle food plastic packaging into food plastic film packaging. ♻️ These technologies can increase recycled content and recycling rates, aligning with national targets. But, hurdles remain, such as low fossil production prices, regulatory gaps, feedstock availability, and substantial investments. 🌍 Despite challenges, non-mechanical recycling aligns with environmental goals, reducing landfill and incineration. First step is that MBA (Mass Balance Approach) acceptance can expedite this transition, incentivizing chemical recycling and sustainable practices. Together, we can build a greener future! 💪 #Sustainability #Recycling #CircularEconomy #plasticrecycling A great read from WRAP here: https://lnkd.in/es87i7Dm
