Exciting week for #eFuels in Berlin! Yesterday the 2nd International e-Fuels Dialogue 2024 took place in Berlin. Following the invitation of minister Volker Wissing, our CEO Tim Boeltken has participated in this landmark event. The International e-Fuels Dialogue is an important platform for cross-border exchange about the entire value chain of e-Fuels, from production to application: “We are on the threshold of a new era of mobility. E-Fuels offer us a unique opportunity to shape this future in a climate-friendly way. But for Europe to maintain its role as a pioneer in this technological revolution, we must ensure that the production and further development of e-Fuels also takes place in this country.” At INERATEC, we are pursuing this vision to advance the deployment of e-Fuels to defossilize hard-to-abate sectors. In the context of this year’s ILA Berlin - Pioneering Aerospace I, the focus was specifically on #aviation and how to make it climate-neutral. In particular, questions regarding success factors for scaling and investment certainty were discussed: 🔹 Investments need a clear framework conditions and reliable guarantees. Stable and attractive economic conditions, tax incentives, investment security and the reduction of bureaucratic hurdles. 🔹 To create this environment, there has to be clarity regarding the supply chain for e-Fuel producers, especially with regards to the distribution of e-Fuel in aviation and the creation of long-term oriented public tenders for #SAF. Today, Tim will present our pioneer project in Frankfurt at the ILA and provide insights into how INERATEC is leading the way into the #NextEra of mobility. With this project, we are promoting Germany and Europe as a location for innovation and want to emphasize the strategic importance of e-Fuels for the sustainable transformation of mobility in all sectors. 💡 Meet Tim at the ILA where he presents in Hall 6, Room ‘SUN’, at 14:30. Sales Manager - Marine Propulsion brand. / Project Manager - Maritime Hybrid, Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cells Conference Series
Financial backing secured for maritime hydrogen fuel system A full-scale model of a maritime hydrogen fuel system will be constructed in Norway after funding was secured from a Norwegian government-backed organisation Hexagon Purus Maritime intends to build the first-of-its-kind maritime hydrogen fuel unit in Langevågen, close to Ålesund, after gaining financial support from Innovation Norway. This achievement comes just two weeks before Riviera Maritime Media holds its annual Maritime Hybrid, Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cells Conference in Bergen, Norway on 17-19 October 2023. (Further details here: https://lnkd.in/eCD-TY5i) Hexagon Purus said this demonstration model will showcase solutions available for zero-emissions shipping and can be used to train operators and engineering students in a safe environment. The full-scale model will include a fuel system with four type 4 hydrogen cylinders, structure, fuelling nozzle and a piping and control system. It has a tried and tested hydrogen fuel system already in operation on mobility applications across the world, such as buses and heavy-duty trucks. “Hydrogen will be an important energy carrier on vessels where the operating profile does not suit batteries,” said Innovation Norway senior customer advisor Magne Aarsnes. “We are eager to support players who are demonstrating the role hydrogen can play and helping to move the industry forward.” Hexagon Purus will establish a development centre in Langevågen for the maritime industry where engineers, shipowners, regulatory bodies and students can learn the functions of a hydrogen fuel system. “We hope the full-scale model, combined with the development centre, will educate and inspire innovations that accelerate the adoption of compressed hydrogen in the maritime industry,” said Hexagon Purus Maritime project engineer Ingrid Fjørtoft Klokk. The project is already well underway, and an official launch of the development centre and demonstration model will take place in 2024. Hydrogen fuel as a pathway to a sustainable maritime industry will be put in the spotlight during day one of Riviera’s Maritime Hybrid, Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cells Conference in Bergen, where organisations such as Hydrogen Europe and Norwegian Hydrogen will set out plans for demonstrations and seaborne projects. Hydrogen & Offshore Wind: Challenges and Opportunities in Power Transmission Great discussions at the #HydrogenForum in Hamburg this year! ️ As engineering consultants, Jörss – Blunck – Ordemann | JBO is constantly looking ahead to support clients with future technologies. Hydrogen production offshore, alongside initiatives like Power-to-Hydrogen, has been a hot topic. However, a key challenge we see is the current emphasis on comparing power transmission to shore vs. hydrogen transport. The reality is the offshore industry's supply chain can't meet the rapid demand envisioned. Those massive HVDC platforms under development are a bottleneck. Here's an alternative: smaller platforms with partial power conversion to hydrogen. This could be a game-changer, especially for projects struggling with onshore transmission capacity. ⚡️ The success of these developments hinges on risk mitigation for first movers. Events like the Hydrogen Forum are crucial for gathering insights from all stakeholders and quantifying risks. A big thank you to Martin Skiba and jörg Singer for their excellent guidance throughout the event! We look forward to the next forum and continuing these important discussions. https://lnkd.in/edarXQTd #hydrogen #offshorewind #renewableenergy #engineering #futureofenergy #HVDC #PowertoHydrogen #TeamJBO

Electronic Engineer. Sr. Project Manager(PMP), Energy Leader @ CACME (WEC) & Postgraduate Diploma in Hydrogen Economy @ UTN (FRBA)
A group of Spanish companies plan to develop the world’s first hydrogen high speed train. By ERIN KILGORE This endeavor is to be carried out by Talgo and others. Talgo (Tren Articulado Ligero Goicoechea Oriol), a Spanish manufacturer of intercity, standard and high-speed passenger trains, and a consortium of 10 Spanish companies and organizations, have been awarded a grant of €6.5 million ($7 million) to co-develop the first hydrogen high speed train in the world. It is known as the Hympulso project. The planned hydrogen high speed train, better known as the Hympulso project, will reportedly be based on the existing Talgo 250 bi-mode train. The main difference between the existing model and the hydrogen one is that the H2 model will have a new hybrid power car that will combine hydrogen fuel cells and batteries to power the train. More specifically, the hydrogen high speed train Talgo 250 model will be modified so one of the two diesel-electric propulsion vehicles at the end of each train will be replaced by a new propulsion vehicle that combines hydrogen and battery technology. https://lnkd.in/dFjKsdU8

German City Chemnitz, IAV and partners have seen an opportunity to develop Chemnitz into a model hydrogen region, showcasing a hydrogen strategy for cross-sector use in the region. IAV and partners view Chemnitz as a prime location for research and development of new hydrogen technology. The focus for this new hydrogen location will be production, storage and application of hydrogen. The first steps to putting action into this plan will be to accomplish creating a hydrogen economy in the ‘HyExperts Region’ which will be located in the southwest Saxony area. The article below shows the importance of the development of new hydrogen projects, with new plants being set up all the time in various locations, and model hydrogen regions such as this one becoming part of the industry too. Creating this area will uncover a multitude of new opportunities within the hydrogen industry, which is what this sector and companies and industries involved in this sector are searching for constantly. At our 2 day conference which is currently underway in Bremen, we have multiple speakers addressing various subjects around hydrogen technology and advancements within this field. Many companies will express different views and approaches and lots of discussions will take place around what is happening within the hydrogen technology industry and plans for the future.
