Are Your Batteries Ready for the Future? 🌱🔋
As the landscape of battery regulations and safety measures becomes increasingly complex, companies face new challenges in managing their critical raw materials and ensuring a sustainable, circular supply chain.
Did You Know? 🤔
If you send an electric bike to a customer and they return it, the battery is immediately classified as "used"—even if it's brand new! Once a battery is unpacked, it's considered "second-hand." This means operators can't guarantee its condition without a thorough diagnostics check to ensure it’s safe for reuse.
New Regulations in the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Returned batteries in the Netherlands must be stored in special PGS 37-2 safety containers until they pass safety checks.
PGS 37-2, finalized last year, sets specific regulations for storing lithium batteries and applies to companies storing over 1,000 kg of hazardous substances. This guideline, from the Dutch Hazardous Substances Publication Series (PGS), could soon become a European standard.
