Backend development: The unsung hero of the software lifecycle 🦸 Backend development is the process of building and maintaining the server-side logic and infrastructure of a software application. It is what powers everything that happens behind the scenes when a user interacts with a website or app. Backend developers work with databases, servers, and programming languages to create and manage the systems that store, process, and deliver data. 💻 Backend development plays an essential role in the success of any software lifecycle. A well-designed and implemented backend can make a software application fast, reliable, and secure. It can also enable new features and functionality, and make it easier to scale the application to meet growing user demand. 🚀 Here are some of the specific ways that backend development contributes to the success of a software lifecycle: Performance: Backend developers are responsible for optimizing the performance of software applications. This includes ensuring that the application can handle a large number of concurrent users without slowing down. 🏎️ It also includes making sure that the application is responsive and that users can get the information they need quickly. ⚡️ Reliability: Backend developers also need to ensure that software applications are reliable and that they can continue to operate even in the event of unexpected problems. 🛡️ This includes implementing fault tolerance and disaster recovery measures. ☔️ Security: Backend developers play a vital role in securing software applications from cyber attacks. 🔐 This includes implementing and maintaining security measures such as authentication, authorization, and encryption. ⛔️ Scalability: Backend developers need to design and implement systems that can scale to meet growing user demand. 📈 This means ensuring that the system can handle more users and data without sacrificing performance or reliability. ⚖️ New features and functionality: Backend developers work with front-end developers to implement new features and functionality in software applications. 🔨 This includes developing new APIs and backend services. ⚙️ In addition to these specific contributions, backend development also plays a role in the overall success of a software lifecycle by helping to ensure that the application meets the needs of its users. Backend developers work closely with stakeholders to understand the requirements of the application and to design and implement a system that meets those requirements. 🤝 What are your favourite backend development tools and technologies? NEW ROLE KLAXON!!🔊🔊🔊 🚀 Java Developer Roles x3 🏢 Manchester - Fully Onsite 💰 £55,000 - £85,000 + Superb Benefits 👀 Global Client Base / Product Development I'm supporting a very well established software house based in Manchester scale up their Java Development team with x3 hires, they are a product development company that don't believe in hierarchical infrastructures and where everyone is treated as equal. So even as a Junior developer you'll be contributing to the same level as someone who maybe has more years of experience - really making an impact on the product development lifecycle. They are proud of the opportunities they can provide in terms of career growth and direction, some people have started off careers here as software developers and have gravitated towards Project Manager roles as they develop professionally. Your career path is not defined and you can take your career into different directions in line with your aptitude, interests and responsibilities. The attrition rate of staff is very high for this very reason - lots of scope to progress. They have several development teams usually split into groups of 8 people to work on a particular part of the product. They are now entering an exciting phase including a new product launch which will see development teams coming together to collaborate on a "significant" piece of work. They constantly look to break down tech barriers and the next challenge is looking to incorporate AI in their product - they have recently established a new team who are specializing in the AI space - Always looking ahead and how to better the products! With everything that is going on product wise, I forgot to mention about the working environment and culture. It's amazing and people love coming into the office - "it doesn't feel like work" was the comment one of the software developers told me when we discussed the role. They have a fabulous office space with all the perks to keep you going during the day. If you're a Java Developer based in Manchester looking for a new exciting role - you may well have just found it! I'm happy to hear from Junior, Mid, Senior and Lead Level candidates. Oh yeah, if you play the guitar or enjoy the occasional board game you'll fit in well here! Want to hear more? 📧 giggs@gre-recruitment.co.uk 💬 DM's Open!

Software Engineer & Director of Mobile Engineering @Kaanari | Women Techmakers Ambassador | AR&AI enthusiast
Why did I decide to become a fullStack developer? Many developer experts explain why it's important to have clear direction when growing in software engineering. Otherwise recruiters will not hire you if they are looking for an expert in a specific field. That is, you will never become an expert because being a fullStack means you are a Front-End and a Back-End and each skill has fundamentals to complex concepts that you, as a fullStack, must master. And now fullStack also means you will need DevOps experience and many more, many things you must have as skills 😅. But as difficult as it was, I decided to go FullStack because: -➰- I would like to have a global vision of Software Engineering. -➰- I want to understand how Front and Back work together to produce good products. -➰- When working on a project, I don't want to be stopped because I have neither Front-end nor Back-end skills 👀. -➰- I love ❤️ learning new things and adding new skills to my previous experiences and background. -➰- I am passionate about everything related to programming 😅. -➰- I like doing Front-end and Back-end development, so why should I choose one? 🤣. So I told myself that I would go with the flow and maybe I will make a choice later but inside me the choice is already made: “Native mobile application development”. But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop learning new things! FullStack Dev Web and Mobile by passion ❤️🔥. Nothing else. Dear recruiting manager, what do you think 🤔? Samuel Lago Beinset V. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐝 "We're on the hunt for 2 mid-level NodeJS Developers, offering a salary of $3500, in a cozy family-like atmosphere, and hosting enjoyable Friday afternoon gatherings." Sounds not too appealing, right? No surprise you've been searching for a candidate for 9 months and decided to contact me. As an organization, understanding what you bring to the table is crucial – often, companies have more to offer than they realize. But remember, you still need to sell your company to the candidate (and vice versa). Here are 3 strategies to make your company stand out in the developer crowd: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: More than just the Friday drinks, showcase your company culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Developers seek an environment where they can thrive and grow. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡: Developers are often passionate about honing their skills. Offer clear pathways for career development, training opportunities, and exposure to cutting-edge projects. Show them how joining your team means advancing their expertise. 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤-𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Today's workforce values flexibility. Emphasize options like remote work, flexible hours, and a healthy work-life balance. A developer who can manage their work according to their rhythm is likely to be more productive and content. Remember, attracting developers goes beyond just monetary perks. It's about presenting your company as a place where they can thrive, learn, and build a meaningful career. Don't hesitate to leverage these unique selling points to capture the attention of top-notch talent. Let's turn the spotlight on what makes your company exceptional. Full Stack Developer or Jack of All Trades... A full stack developer is often like a Jack of all trades, master of none. While it's not impossible to excel in both frontend and backend technologies, it's quite challenging in reality. Frontend development alone is highly dynamic and intricate. When you add backend technologies, including databases, to the mix, it can quickly become overwhelming. It's essential to understand that it's not just about learning these technologies once; it also involves staying updated with the ever-evolving tech landscape—a never-ending process. The most feasible way to truly be a full stack developer is by utilizing the same technologies in both frontend and backend development. For example, the MEAN stack is an excellent illustration of this approach. #techforitrecruiters #recruiter #recruitment #job #training #educatetoempower #technicalrecruiters
