It's panel time again! Right after Reeperbahn Festival, our CEO Stephan Thanscheidt is heading to the International Festival Forum in London for an in-depth review of the 2023 season. Arch 33, IFF Campus Wednesday, Sep 27 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM With rising costs, bad weather and mixed fortunes, the 2023 season has not been easy. And with a spate of cancellations, the market has proved too crowded for some. But sell outs and busy fields have been in abundance this year, and many festivals have experienced record editions for one reason or another. Just as there’s no shortage of fans committed to their favourite summer festivals, there’s no shortage of topics to discuss in IFF’s big annual round up of the year that (nearly) was. From a very difficult season for bad weather for many, to supply chain problems, stiff competition, new events, and the steady stream of sale announcements, IFF’s conference programme kicks off with an in-depth review of the 2023 season…

Impact of Taylor Swift concerts in Stockholm for STR market. Including some boasting, but cant help it since im so proud of the Guestit teams execution this week! 1. After a negative market development during Q1 in comparison to last year, market RevPar and sold STR-nights is reaching all time high ever in Stockholm in may. Really happy to see that for all market actors. 2. Guestit is outperforming market RevPar by over +40% for the month of May and ≈250% for peak nights the coming weekend. Average Guestit portfolio RevPar during this week is +3300 SEK in comparison to the market RevPar of approx 1400 SEK. It is clear that most of the market actors are drastically underestimating the demand for Taylor week. We are of course very proud to see that Guestits pricing strategy really pays off when demand in high! SEE GRAPH below where grey is Guestit portfolio and red market averages. 3. 25 000 kr/night for 2BR on Södermalm. This is of course an outlier case but one happy guestit customer and property owner reached over 25k per night (!) for Taylor week. Where would you stay when going to the concert? In town or closer to the arena?

FESTIVAL CANCELLED EVERYTHING ELSE GOING AHEAD AS PLANNED & SCHEDULED FOR THE #ZEROSUICIDESOCIETY #JOINTHEDOTSTOUR Due primarily to poor advance ticket sales, we've had to cancel the Bootle Festival, sadly. An easy decision in some respects, difficult in others, partly as everything seemed to be in place for a superb Festival. Also, I'd very tightly managed the financials; almost all the Performers agreed to waive their fee; the Lock and Quay generously donated the venue; the total projected costs were sitting around £3,600 so we only needed to sell 180 tickets to cover our costs. It seemed like very little financial risk. So much so, I was even prepared to personally underwrite the Festival. Many of our #Merseyside Partners had said: "With Festivals in #Liverpool, most people buy tickets at the last minute. Many just rock up on the day". But advance ticket sales were very poor, and even direct mailers to those right bang in the middle of our target audience were not resulting in people getting tickets. There was a risk to the viability of the Festival - not the financial viability of the Festival, as that was NEVER an issue - my concern was about having enough people in the venue on the day (eg 500-600) to 'create the buzz' we wanted: for those on the stage and those in the audience. Lots of people told me the Festival line-up we'd pulled together was extraordinary and said they'd be coming...but they didn't buy tickets - at least not sufficient numbers in advance to give us confidence the Festival would be a huge success. I had to weigh up all the data in front of me, take into account the views of our key partners, and take a decision. I took the decision to cancel the Festival. But the good news is that everything else we've planned, organised & scheduled is going ahead, inc: > Sat morning, 22 June, at the #Anfield Sports & Community Centre, hosted by the LFC Foundation and > what will now be our final Tour event, on Sun 23 June, the '#VoicesOfHope Concert with Reflections' at the Liverpool Arts Bar on Hope Street - with an extension, so it's now 10am to 12.30pm (so more music & more #LivedExperience Speakers): https://lnkd.in/eYzs4sag Please join us if you can, to be there with us for the Tour finale. There are only 100 tickets for this one so please book straight away if you want to be there for this very special closing event. Tickets are free (asking for a donation to The Jordan Legacy CIC) Ironically, the original vision for the Tour didn't include an outdoor Festival but it did include 'a Hope Gathering on Hope Street'. I'm somewhat consoled by the thought that, for all of us "in the #hope business", it's rather fitting we finish in Hope Street! Last but not least, apologies to all those in Merseyside whose inboxes have, over these past 3 months, been on the receiving end of my Obsessive Compulsive Enthusiasm! 😬 😁 🙏

Day 13 of embracing the wonders of life! The festival season has kicked off with full vigor here in the Netherlands, where it feels like the celebration never truly ends. Yesterday, I had the immense pleasure of attending a Massive Attack concert in the vibrant city of Tilburg. It was one of those rare, magical days when everything aligned perfectly: the enchanting setting, the flawless weather, and the electrifying music. What fascinates me most about festivals is how they bring together such a diverse array of people in a relatively small space, yet everyone remains joyful and harmonious. While the flow of beer might contribute, I believe it's more about the collective mindset. People come with the intention of having a good time and connecting with others, creating a unique atmosphere of camaraderie and joy. This phenomenon triggers my curiosity. What is it about these gatherings that fosters such a peaceful and unified mindset? Is it solely our connection to the music, which alters our brain chemistry and brings us closer together? Or is the crowd perhaps less diverse than it appears, unified by shared interests? There could be other underlying factors at play that encourage positive behavior in large groups, shifting our focus towards enjoyment rather than discord. I believe that real change in organizations and society comes from learning across disciplines and applying these insights to our own contexts. I challenge you to approach the weekend with an open mind. Look for moments in your activities that could inspire professional innovation. Train your brain to be observant and associative, and you'll find new inspiration along your path !
