How to turn a farm into the world's greatest music festival? Of course, it demands a huge amount of money, people and efforts. But the return is absolutely worthy, for the producers, the sponsors and specially for those who build this event or get the ticket to enjoy it. From the perspective of a music lover, I personally think that a festival is a celebration of life for many reasons, starting from the intense emotions and the life-changing experience that it can be. But also because a festival is also a great opportunity for people who: - Build the infrastructure. - Prepare the food and deliver the drinks. - Provide security for musicians, technicians and festival goers. - Offer transportation and accomodation, among other services. This video shows how the Glastonbury festival ("Glasto") is built in 26 days, and also part of its history, from the first edition in 1970 as the "Pop Folk & Blues" festival with nearly 1000 attendants, until today, with over 400 workers and 210.000 attendants. I have not attended many festivals, but I do follow them and dream with enjoying some ones with my kids. My latest for The Charlotte Ledger: It’s getting pricier to put on a festival 🎵 🎨 💃 For nearly 25 years, Tosco Music has brought music lovers together through events like FabFest and Tosco Music Party. However, rising costs for equipment, venue rentals and security have made it difficult to sustain these events. Founder John Tosco made the tough decision to cut the Tosco Music Party this year and reschedule FabFest to October. This situation isn't unique to arts and cultural organizations in Charlotte. BOOM Charlotte festival and cultural events organized by the Vietnamese Association of Charlotte also face similar financial pressures. Increased costs mean scaling back and slower growth. The Charlotte City Council’s 2025 budget includes $11 million for arts and culture. Organizations are ramping up fundraising efforts and seeking sponsorships to bridge the gap. Read the full article to learn more about how these organizations are adapting and what festival leaders say could help their events grow and thrive.

This is a good plan (and I don't say that often) and highlights that the region should be focussing on the brownfields of Parramatta before the greenfields of far western Sydney to minimise environmental impacts of new construction and long distance travel. This plan takes advantage of the City's location and its transport assets and potentials, correctly identifying missing Metro stations (Rosehill and Silverwater) that need to be accounted for, and missing links (Parramatta to Epping) that should be high priority.
A major new vision has been released for Parramatta as a city of five connected districts, built around a pitch for new Metro stations at Rosehill and Silverwater >> https://lnkd.in/gEwejccA The draft plan would build on Parramatta's rich cultural life to become an epicentre of creativity for Sydney, adding contemporary art, live music and nightlife venues to the ambitious work underway at Riverside Theatres and Powerhouse Parramatta. This would complement a bigger program of festivals, sport and entertainment, including a strong focus on esports. A continuous green corridor along the river from Lake Parramatta to Sydney Olympic Park, with world leading First Nations partnerships and globally connected university campuses, completes the vision. The draft Parramatta 2050 plan is on public exhibition until Friday 19 July >> https://lnkd.in/gQVf3j7X Gail Connolly PSM, Angela Jones-Blayney, City of Parramatta, Augusta Supple, Aileen Robalino, Michael Jollon, Pierre Esber, Donna Davis, Australian Turf Club, Steve McMahon, Jo Haylen, David Borger, Tom Nance, Dr Rhonda Itaoui, PhD, Patricia Prociv, Anthony Segaert, Craig McMaster, Lisa Havilah, Georgina Valjak, Anne Loxley, Emily McDaniel, Josh Murray, Helen Machalias, Annette Pitman, Jeremy Kelshaw, Clare Holland, Nikki Brogan, Powerhouse, Riverside Theatres, Katherine (Katie) Papagianis, Cred Consulting, Emilia Hallström, Belinda Comninos, Astrolabe Group
