A new smart ship technology from Hanwha Ocean will help shipowners monitor a ship’s carbon intensity indicator (CII) while it is operating. Integrated with Hanwha’s smart ship platform, HS4, the new technology will provide actionable insights in real time to assist compliance with environmental regulations. As we see more pressure on emissions compliance verification, I wonder what else may come to light? This is a major mess; elsewhere, I saw that roughly ~50% of the engines may not have met the contractual spec with the shipbuilder, which would put regulatory compliance in doubt. Mainly medium-speed engines for smaller vessels, though they also make unusual 4-stroke 200-400 RPM "low speed" engines that are suited to small vessel propulsion. https://lnkd.in/e4_W7GUP
