HR Global has organized traditional job fairs for many years, but they are becoming less effective in today's fast-paced, digital world. Candidates become discouraged when they attend an event lacking meaningful interactions and where recruiters don’t conduct interviews. In short, we are swarmed with job fairs from universities, government and private organizations, but they are ineffective, and here’s why: · Company goals: usually companies don’t have many open positions, so their goal is basically employment branding and replenishment of their database. · No hiring: from experience I can tell you there is no actual hiring during job fairs. · No interviews: impersonal interactions with recruiters are the norm. Yes, they will receive your resume, but that’s it. Company swag is cool, but that won’t get you a job. · Limited reach: job fairs are often confined to specific locations, limiting both employers and job seekers. · Time-Consuming: attending a job fair requires a significant time commitment, often without guaranteed results. · Outdated Methods: The traditional resume exchange lacks the dynamic interaction of modern recruitment tools. HR Global offers alternatives to traditional job fairs: Virtual Career Fairs: they allow broader participation, save time, and offer interactive features like live chats, webinars and resources for candidates. We organize Networking Events which are industry-specific meetups and conferences to facilitate targeted connections. We combine this with social media recruitment enabling direct engagement to showcase your company culture. We work with companies to define a sound employer branding strategy, promoting a strong online presence attracting passive candidates and highlighting company values. Working with candidates is essential, HR Global provides career coaching, outplacement processes and pro bono services for more inclusive job placement methods. Adapting to these alternatives can lead to more efficient, effective, and inclusive hiring processes, moving away from traditional, ineffective job fairs. #Recruitment #JobSearch #HR #CareerDevelopment

Is it time to rethink the traditional job fair when it comes to recruiting top talent? 🤔 According to recent data, 85% of companies still see the value in career fairs for recruitment, though many are left questioning their true effectiveness given the surge of digital alternatives. The facts speak volumes: career fairs are losing their luster among professionals, largely due to the convenience and privacy of online job searches. Not only that, but the actual value of talent gained versus resources spent is being scrutinized more than ever. 📊 Don’t count them out just yet, though. Career fairs continue to play a critical role for students and recent graduates, and universities are key in promoting these events. For the emerging workforce, these fairs offer an irreplaceable chance to network and get a feel for different company cultures. In the virtual space, job fairs are transforming, promising wider reach, more efficient processes, and a level of inclusivity traditional fairs can't match. This is not just about saving time – it’s about aligning with a market that demands diversity and innovation. However, the power of in-person interaction remains unmatched in certain aspects. The depth of connection and immediate feedback available at physical events provides a unique advantage. Plus, remember that maximizing efficiency isn't just about choosing a platform; it’s about how you utilize the platform to engage with the right candidates. So what’s the verdict for your company? Weigh your options carefully. Consider alternative methods, the undeniable networking benefits of physical fairs, and keep a pulse on future recruitment trends. Diversify your methods. That's your golden ticket 🔑. Blend technology with human touch to design a recruitment strategy that not only reaches a broader audience but also builds lasting relationships with potential candidates. #recruitmentstrategy #jobfair #talentacquisition #humanresources #careerdevelopment #networking #universitypartnerships #ROI

Leading the Charge in Healthcare & Technology Recruitment: Fast-Tracking Your Growth with Elite Leaders | President | Veteran
5 unconventional recruitment strategies that filled our clients' Healthcare IT vacancies in record time: (1) "Talent Hunts, Not Job Fairs" Forget about traditional job fairs. We hosted Talent Hunts, where we set up real-world problem-solving scenarios relevant to our projects. It attracted thinkers, not just job seekers. (2) "Social Media Isn't Just for Branding" We used social media to showcase our culture and projects, not just to advertise positions. It turned our employees into brand ambassadors who naturally attracted like-minded professionals. (3) "The Interview Process Can Be a Project" Instead of conventional interviews, we invited candidates to join a live project for a day. It gave both parties a genuine feel for the fit and streamlined our decision-making process. (4) "Flexibility as a Key Offer" We emphasized work-life balance and flexibility in our job postings and interviews. This approach was particularly appealing to top talent looking for a modern work environment. (5) "Employee Networks Are Gold Mines" We encouraged our employees to refer contacts from their professional networks, offering incentives for successful hires. This method brought us candidates who were often a perfect fit culturally and professionally. Senior Retail and Hospitality Recruiter, Mental Health First Aider and Culture and Well-being Champion at RHR
With The Retail Appointment Live happening this month I wanted to share my view on the benefits of attending an event like this as both a job seeker and an exhibitor. In the digital age, where job applications are predominantly submitted online and networking often occurs through social media platforms, you may underestimate the power of the traditional job fair. Despite technological advancements, job fairs remain an invaluable resource for both job seekers and employers alike. Job fairs provide a unique opportunity for face-to-face interaction between job seekers and recruiters. In an era where communication is often mediated through screens, the value of personal connection cannot be overstated. Meeting potential employers in person allows candidates to make a memorable impression beyond what can be conveyed through a CV or cover letter. Similarly, recruiters can assess candidates beyond their qualifications, gauging factors such as communication skills, enthusiasm, and cultural fit. Attendees have the chance to meet not only potential employers but also fellow job seekers and industry professionals. These connections can provide insights into job opportunities and invaluable advice on navigating the job market. This type of networking can also lead to referrals and recommendations. Not all job openings are publicly advertised. Many companies prefer to recruit through internal referrals or by directly approaching candidates at job fairs. By attending these events, job seekers gain access to a broader range of opportunities that may not be advertised through traditional channels. Additionally, companies often use job fairs to scout for talent for future openings, making these events a fertile ground for proactive job seekers. For employers, job fairs provide a platform to showcase their company culture and values. Beyond promoting job openings, recruiters can convey the unique aspects of their organisation that set them apart from competitors. This can attract candidates who are not only qualified but also aligned with the company's ethos. These events offer a multitude of benefits for both job seekers and employers, including direct interaction, networking opportunities, real-time feedback, access to hidden job openings, showcasing company culture, and skill development. By embracing job fairs as integral components of their job search or recruitment strategies, individuals and organisations can unlock a world of opportunities and forge meaningful connections that pave the way for success in today's competitive job market. If you would like to attend The Retail Appointment Live, as a job seeker you can register at https://lnkd.in/eC_2Mme7 If you would like to enquire about exhibiting please contact me directly daniel.cresswell-thorn@rhr.co.uk And if you are already attending, I will see you there! Sunday Thoughts Dont just a book by its cover (letter) The hiring environment has changed significantly in the current digital era. Digital platforms have become the preferred means of talent scouting in the hospitality sector due to their accessibility and ease of use. Even with all of this digital domination, face to face interactions, like those at career fairs, can still highlight potential that is frequently overlooked throughout the online hiring process. This was brought out to me clearly by my recent experience at the Workathlon career fair in Thessaloniki. I met applicants at the fair who, based only on their resumes, might not have instantly drawn the attention of a recruiter. Their resumes lacked the polished consistency that we frequently seek, what some immediately characterize as "mediocre." Meeting these candidates in person, though, was enlightening. Their facial expressions, their body language, and most importantly, their winning mindsets, said it all. These were people whose potential an ordinary online screening procedure would have been likely to miss. Despite its effectiveness, digital recruitment is not without its drawbacks. At first, we had high expectations and looked only for applicants who had the ideal balance of education, loyalty, and experience. However, we frequently find ourselves relaxing these standards as the reality of the industry's workforce needs sinks in. This change, while necessary, raises a more general concern: the possibility that exceptional talent could miss detection due to technological limitations. The hospitality sector benefits greatly from the specific touches and distinctive characteristics that people bring to their work. We are severely short on staff, and in order to bring the sector back to its former glory, we need to aggressively look for those exceptional people who, while not particularly impressive on paper, might prove to be great assets in person. I support a balanced strategy that balances the depth of in-person encounters with the reach of digital platforms as we navigate the difficulties of recruitment in the hospitality sector. Face-to-face meetings and career fairs provide an opportunity to establish a human connection with prospective applicants, identifying abilities and personality traits that could be a perfect fit for the demands of our sector.

🎓 Exploring the Pros and Cons of Recruiting at Job Fairs 🎓 Are job fairs a valuable tool for finding top talent, or are they just a relic of traditional recruiting methods? Let's dive into the pros and cons: Pros: Access to Diverse Talent Pools: Job fairs attract a wide range of candidates, allowing recruiters to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Face-to-Face Interaction: Meeting candidates in person provides an opportunity to gauge their communication skills, professionalism, and cultural fit firsthand. Efficient Networking: Job fairs offer a concentrated pool of potential hires, making it easier for recruiters to efficiently network and identify qualified candidates. Brand Visibility: Participating in job fairs can enhance a company's brand visibility and reputation within the local community and industry. Cons: Time-Consuming: Attending job fairs requires significant time and resources, from preparing promotional materials to staffing the event itself. Limited Reach: Job fairs may not attract candidates with highly specialized skills or those who are not actively seeking employment. Competition: Companies must compete with other employers vying for the attention of job fair attendees, making it challenging to stand out from the crowd. Cost: Participation fees, travel expenses, and booth setup costs can add up, especially for smaller companies with limited budgets. In conclusion, while job fairs offer unique advantages such as access to diverse talent and face-to-face interaction, they also come with drawbacks such as time and resource constraints. Ultimately, the decision to recruit at job fairs should be based on the specific needs and priorities of each organization. What are your thoughts on recruiting at job fairs?
