Congratulations to our colleagues MIRA Technology Park – home to a cluster of 35 automotive companies – for earning the The Wildlife Trusts' Biodiversity Benchmark award for land management. The accolade recognises organisations that manage commercial landholdings responsibly, paying close attention to the environment they create for wildlife and their investment in nature. What does it take to build the UK's premier Passive Safety Centre Crash Facility? Our time lapse cameras have been on high alert for the last six months, capturing all the developments as our extended and re-modelled crash facility takes shape at our headquarters in Nuneaton. The groundworks for the facility, which will double the runway length to 170 metres and enable car-to-car crash events to be simulated for the first time in the UK, got underway last October. Industry and academia can now apply for a 12-week funded project looking at novel tunnelling techniques on behalf of the MoD. The latest challenge set by HMGCC Co-Creation is seeking new technologies that could help in the creation of tunnels to access hostile or constrained locations. We're happy to be heading to the British Motor Museum on 11 July to present at the AESIN Conference. Alejandro Trueba, our Senior Engineer in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles at HORIBA MIRA, will be speaking to delegates about the merits of our project CERTUS-developed automated closed-loop toolchain which has been created to reduce the complexity, time and cost associated with the Verification and Validation of ADAS and AD systems. How does the closed-loop toolchain, which aims to reduce AD testing costs by 40%, work? It creates, selects and executes scenarios in closed loop. The performance of the System under Test (SUT) is assessed on each concrete scenario and is aggregated to the previous results to select the next concrete scenario. This allows for an efficient testing of the problem space.
