What a pleasure helping prepare the LA County and Long Beach Environmental Health staff to perform cooling tower Legionnaires’ disease cluster and outbreak investigations. Using AI/machine learning tools, we have identified thousands of cooling towers in LA County, allowing us to map historical disease trends around cooling towers, and identify clusters/outbreaks similar to NYC Health in real time. Environmental health strike teams will be on the front line responding, investigating and monitoring mitigation efforts. There is no longer any reason for health agencies to claim they can’t create cooling tower registries as recommended by virtually every public health authority in the world.
