Call me old school all you want! It is important to know how to write and express yourself in corporate America. I see so many posts telling job seekers to use ChatGPT in writing their resumes, LinkedIn summaries, etc. If you are unable to write properly and/or express your thoughts without running them through AI first, you are going to be set up on a difficult path. You can have a masterfully written resume but the moment you interview and can't explain what's on there....what do you think will happen? This is real feedback I received from a hiring manager about someone with a PICTURE PERFECT resume: "...Discussed more about what they would do if… and did not effectively apply tangible answers to my situational questions..." The human factor will ALWAYS WIN in interviewing and hiring. What if AI could help you prepare for a job interview? I created a custom GPT to help you out. This probably isn't the GPT you expected me to make. However, I had the idea and thought this could be useful, especially for students, recent graduates or those who just want to be better prepared. Here are some of the features of this custom GPT. (Don't know what a custom GPT is, see my post from yesterday) Resume Analysis → Rates how well resume fits job description on 1-10 scale → Provides advice to enhance resume fit Interview Question Generator → Tailors questions from HR, potential co-worker, and supervisor perspectives → Questions based on job description and your resume Response Evaluation → Offers ratings and suggestions to improve interview answers _____ How to use it 1. Copy and paste the job description into the chat window 2. Then attach your resume by clicking the paper clip 3. Hit enter (Or just click the "How do I use this GPT?" button and it will walk you through how to use it.) The GPT will then create a list of interview questions for you from multiple perspectives, analyze and rate your resume and provide suggestions for improvement. You can then proceed to answer any of the interview questions you want, just type the number of the question and the role of the person who asked it, then provide your answer (e.g. "2. HR" would be the 2nd question asked by the HR rep, then just type your answer). It will then rate your answer and offer suggestions on how you could improve your answer. _____ The link to the GPT is provided in the comments. My latest findings shed light on the impact of body language and how AI is changing the game. We've all heard the saying, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." That's because within the first 30 seconds of an interview, people make judgments about us based on our nonverbal cues. The problem? These cues are often unreliable indicators of our actual job performance. Believe it or not, the myth that 80% of communication is nonverbal has been debunked. We don't need subtitles to understand foreign films, right? 🎬 The good news is that AI is stepping in to decode nonverbal signals with greater accuracy than humans. Today, I had a scheduled interview for a front-end role that lasted less than 10 minutes. The reason given for this abrupt end was the assumption that I was using AI/ChatGPT to answer questions. I want to clarify that during the interview, the only tabs open on my system were Google Meet, LinkedIn, and my resume in a Word document. I keep my resume open during interviews to ensure I don't miss any key points while introducing myself. I would have gladly shared my screen to clear any misunderstandings, but this option wasn't provided. Transparency and integrity are paramount to me, and it’s disheartening to be judged prematurely without a fair chance to explain or demonstrate my honesty. Has anyone else faced a similar situation?
