Where are portable fire extinguishers rerated with UL/FM when they HAVE to be recharged and tested? For the "immaculate and respectable experts and representatives of brands and manufacturers who object outside of this space" Some examples: AMEREX portable fire extinguishing equipment manual and section NFPA 10 where BOTH clearly state: Tank/equipment requalification HAS to be done at stations with DOT license and current RIN number.

Another example of why out AHJ’s need help. They can not be experts in every area of their job and this is where we can help. Reach out and ask if they need help. It will really show you who they are and how much they care depending on the response you get back. Most AHJ’s want to do a good job they just need help like everyone else, let’s help each other and make the industry better one conversation at a time.
If you are an AHJ or a fire fighter driving down the road what do you think when you see this. Do you know what it means when you don’t see the stems of those valves sticking up? Are you aware that NFPA 13 requires these valves and assemblies to be protected against freezing? We had a freeze in my area over a week ago and yet I keep seeing backflows by the roads as I drive by in this condition. Folks “locked or sealed” DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE! That is why over 20 years ago the International Fire Code included in section 903.4 that valves like this are to be monitored by a fire alarm system! People pick and choose what parts of the codes that they want to follow and what parts they don’t far to often in South Carolina. Sadly one day one or more people are going to die because of this. Maybe someone with a wife and children. Oh well, at least a fire sprinkler or fire alarm contractor can save $350 on a $90,000 contract by not including two tamper switches and instead put on a couple of plastic zip ties to “seal” the valve 🤷♂️ A persons life is worth $350 right?

What system would you install in a library for fire protection system? Actually it is dependent on your budget. When there is budget, the clean agent system would probably be superior as it has the least damage on books when released. However, most of the time the amount of clean agent required would be overwhelming to totally flood the room. So, from my point of view, the double interlock preaction sprinkler would be suitable as the sprinkler pipe will only be filled up upon detection by fire alarm system and upon activation of sprinkler.
