Reflecting on 7 years of departure from my Skillbridge experience: 7 years ago this weekend, I wrapped up 4 months of a Skillbridge internship with Spartan Race that gave me the confidence to lead projects in civilian world. I worked with Emily Downey-Yamada and her team, and Joe De Sena to dive in and make a race happen in Tokyo. It was a perfect storm of starting out with an end state and very little other details. We navigated so many challenges and brought 5,000 smiles to muddy faces from 37 countries in a phenomenal Spartan Sprint experience. I didn't know then that I'd meet Phil Randazzo, Laura Gassner Otting, Daniel Alarik, and so many other amazing and positive people who can just set the world around them on a higher level. I learned the power of possibilities - and the fun that comes in the white space. Since then, I've talked about those Skillbridge experiences with others, and I had a wildly unique experience due to its lack of structure. I loved it, but maybe it's not for every one. And, maybe in 2017, the program was so underutilized that my lack of structure could exist. Today, it seems like Skillbridge could still grow, but has EXPLODED since I was the first from Japan (...can someone tell me if Skillbridge seems accessible to overseas servicemembers now?). Regardless, here are my key takeaways on reflection: 1. Embrace the white space! 2. "You aren't out of your depth, you're out of your lexicon." - LGO (you can't know the impact those authentic words have had on my life) 3. Do burpees!

Welcome to the first #SuccessStruggleShoutOutAction of the month! I'd love to hear what's gone well, what's been challenging, and who you appreciate this week, as well as what you're looking forward to in the new week! #Success 🏆 - it was awesome to have a team day at the office on Monday and see some people I haven't seen in-person for a while! It was a lot of fun making spaghetti and marshmallow towers, having a scavenger hunt, learning what "crab" is in Welsh and doing actual productive things 😂🦀 I'm already looking forward to the next team day, whenever that will be, and I'm super happy to be part of a supportive and fun team 😁! #Struggle 😢 - realising that I forgot a small detail about how to use a PowerShell script I wrote ages ago 😅 I have a PowerShell script which I thought just launched a particular site in the browser. HOWEVER, I forgot about the fact that it logs in as a specific user, rather than what is set in a config elsewhere 🤡 Cue a good couple of hours of trying to figure out why things were being weird, and then realised when in a call talking about it with someone else 😂 So I guess that teaches 2 things: it can be worth sanity checking what scripts are doing if you've not used them in a while, and specify in the name of your script if it is doing anything specific 😅 #ShoutOut 📢 to the rest of the team for making Monday's team day awesome 🦀❤ #Action 💪🏻 - celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 🥳 National Apprenticeship Week is all about celebrating the impacts apprenticeships have made on individuals, organisations, and the wider community. I'm really excited to be sharing the impacts my apprenticeship has made on me, and hearing other people's stories 😁 Enjoy the week ahead! What's your #SuccessStruggleShoutOutAction for this week? #SoftwareEngineering #apprenticeships #positivity #PowerShell #NationalApprenticeshipWeek

My Journey to Professional Growth 👩🏻💼✨ 📌 DRBH Apprenticeship Bootcamp ⛺️ Day 1 & 2 (18 - 19 Sept 2023) These 2 days was filled with mostly outdoor activities coordinated by En. Azman Mohd noor and En. izham malik. From treasure hunting around the academy area engaging with local people to appreciating nature while trekking Bukit Batu Putih. Overall, outdoor team-building activities provide a dynamic platform for participants to reflect on values like teamwork, communication, trust, leadership, and adaptability. These reflections contribute to personal growth and can lead to more effective and harmonious teams in both professional and personal settings. ⛺️ Day 3 (20 Sept 2023) Personal branding is not just about marketing oneself; it’s a strategic approach to defining and communicating your unique identity and value proposition. It empowers individuals to shape their professional reputation, pursue their goals, and make a lasting impact in their chosen fields. We had an interesting session with Ms Debby Yunus exploring new knowledge on appearance and personality understanding. This session has has truly provided me with invaluable insights into how to effectively present myself in the professional arena. ⛺️Day 4 (21 Sept 2023) On this day, we had an insightful session with En. Wardy Razaly Razaly, delving into the vital subject of setting personal goals. This discussion provided us with valuable insights, offering clarity on the path we must chart in life. In addition, the guidance and discussions during this session not only clarified the importance of setting clear objectives but also inspired a renewed sense of purpose. Therefore, it dawned on me that setting personal goals is not just about setting the goals, it’s about continuous self-improvement and growth through the process of achieving them. Day 5 (22 Sept 2023) Last day of our bootcamp was filled with an enlightening sharing by En. Roslan Effendi on critical and analytical thinking. The sharing session on creative and analytical thinking was incredibly enlightening. It provided a well-rounded perspective on the synergy between these two thinking styles. The insights gained during the session have broadened my understanding of how to approach problems and produce a decision. The practical examples and strategies discussed were especially valuable, offering tangible ways to apply these thinking skills in both personal and professional contexts. To sum it up, I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to joined this amazing bootcamp as well as being accepted as one of the successful candidates for this Apprenticeship program. Hence, I wish to convey my appreciation to Puan Farah Hani Roslan and her team for meticulously organizing such an outstanding activities. Not to forget, a big thanks to @theAcademy DRB-HICOM Berhad for the nice accomodation and food 🍱. #DRBHApprenticeship #weloveddrbhicom #drbhicomculturerocks #budayadrbhmantap

Yesterday was a Terrific Tuesday‼️ Representatives from hago Automotive came to visit with the CCR classes and set up for a Lunch and Learn so our students could talk to them about the apprenticeship opportunities hago offers. Amy Barnes, HR Manager, Nils Mellenthin, Tool & Die Manager, Theresa Hentshel, intern from Germany, and ACHS’ own AJ Robbins, Tool & Die Apprentice, shared a wealth of knowledge with the students, and by the time they finished, my hago tour sign-up sheet for the September 19th trip was full. I try to limit tours to ten students, but added a couple of more because of the great interest. If you are interested in learning more about hago’s apprenticeship model and touring the facility, stop by, and I can set up a second tour. Apprenticeships are offered in Industrial Maintenance, Tool & Die, Logistics, and Quality, so whether you like working with your hands and fixing things or working on computers and programming things, there is something for you at hago. #ACHS #ASD #hagoautomotive #CCR #advancedmanufacturing #apprenticeships #skilledtrades #trpdd #AccelerateMS #Ascentto55 #careercoach

🔹 National Apprentice Week 🔹 🌟 DANTE 🌟Our superb In2sport apprentice! 😇 Dante, we are so grateful to have you on our team. Watching you grow and develop has been an absolute pleasure, and we look forward to many more great years working with you. Thank you for all of your outstanding hard work and dedication. 🙏🏼👏🏼 To celebrate Dante and the fantastic job he does, we asked him to share some words of wisdom of his journey to date 1️⃣ What made you decide to take on the apprenticeship with In2sport? “I decided to take on this apprenticeship after doing some work experience with Rich, during that time I really enjoyed working with Rich and seeing the rewarding benefit of students doing well. I felt that this job could be something that I would really enjoy, safe to say I was right!” 2️⃣ Best Highlights: “My best highlights would definitely come in the summer months! I would say the sports day at Hilmarton last year was really good fun, as well as the camps last summer working in Chippenham for the majority of the time.” 3️⃣ Biggest Challenges: “I think the first big challenge I had was dealing with behaviour, as sometimes it can be tricky! I made sure I asked lots of questions on how to deal with different circumstances, as well as watching how other coaches deal with it. By doing this, I was able to take bits from everyone and add what I found works for me. Being confident in myself was another challenge I had to overcome, making sure I was clear and concise in my delivery to a big group.” 4️⃣ What would you say to someone thinking about becoming an apprentice? “Do it! It's a great job with a great team behind it, you'll have support from everyone! I'd also say to make sure you give everything a try, and get involved with as much as you can to begin with as you'll learn much more.” 5️⃣ What is your plans for when you finish the apprenticeship? “My plans are to stay with the company and progress myself as much as possible. I'd also like to develop my own speciality, whether that be in mentoring, nurseries, CPD or create a new format for the company.” 6️⃣ Favourite game activity to teach? “I would say gaga ball is a great one to teach! Children really enjoy playing it and it's a fast paced game and is a quick game to pick up. I also enjoy teaching football and athletics, as you can see big improvements from week to week, which is really rewarding.” 7️⃣ Any Final comments: “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at the company! The support I've received has been second to none and the team is always willing to help! A big thank you has to go to Dan, my line manager. He's been amazing with me since I've started here and always helped me whenever I've needed it, offering great ideas and help.” Thank you Dante 🙏🏼 if you’re interested in an apprenticeship, or job opportunity with In2sport get in touch 😁 ☎️ 07799 268115 - Tash / 07968 778732 - Vicky 📧 info@in2sportcoaching.co.uk 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eQRCMBSH
