Henniker Plasma at 🔋 Battery Tech Expo Silverstone 🏁 25th April Join us at stand A.09 for a hands-on experience with our HPT-100 FI plasma system and a chance to discuss how our technology can benefit battery production. Plasma treatment is advantageous in various aspects of battery assembly. It begins with surface activation, where plasma enhances battery components' wettability and adhesion properties, ensuring better performance and reliability 🔬. Plasma cleaning is also employed to remove contaminants and organic residues from battery surfaces, optimising electrode-electrolyte interactions and extending cycle life. Modification of electrolyte surfaces improves ion transport properties and overall battery performance. 🔄 Advanced plasma coating techniques are used on electrodes, separators, and current collectors, providing a thin and uniform protective layer that enhances durability and efficiency 💡. Functionalisation of electrodes through plasma coating can also enhance their catalytic activity, resulting in faster charge-discharge rates and increased ⚡ energy density. Our team of experts will be ready to answer all your questions regarding these techniques and many more. Plus, there might be some goodies waiting for you! Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect and discover the potential of plasma in battery technology. See you at Silverstone! 🏁 #batterytechnology #materialsscience #nanotechnology #batterytechexpo

Last week we presented the study results of the WIPANO-funded project "NoRu” which was a collaboration of the Universität Duisburg-Essen (UDE-IVG, UDE-LET), the Center for Fuel Cell Technology / Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik (ZBT) and LUM GmbH. According to the study-based paper “Characterization of battery pastes and electrodes produced therewith for use in lithium-ion batteries.”, the strength of the electrode coatings was determined using the LUMiFrac®. Sample preparations involved cutting electrodes into 20x20 mm sections, stiffening them with steel plates, and applying a protective film. Test stamps were glued onto the coated side with adhesive tape. After a preparative run, fracture forces were measured with a force of 100 N. Fracture behavior involved cohesive failure within the layers and adhesive failure between the tape and layer surface, with occasional adhesive fractures between the coating and copper substrate. Results indicate that a greater layer thickness leads to lower bond strengths. Next week we will continue with the NoRu results generated with the LUMiSizer®. You probably already heard about Prepreg, isn’t it? Do you know how Coating Plasma Innovation atmospheric plasma treatment is lifting Prepreg to next Level? The adventure started in 2016, when we decided to build up our own roll-to-roll web PE-CVD plasma equipment and then it took 3 years to build it. Since, we are developing new recipes to achieve specific Film surface treatments to answer applications requirements, from changing surface tension, grafting, to nano-coating in 2Meters wide width. For the Prepreg market, we developed a specific release treatment that can be applied on both sides of the PET Film. Benefits are the following: - Calibrated release (we can adjust release force to fit in your manufacturing process) - 2 release sides could have 2 different release force. - C0 -> Fluor Free Solution - Re-usable up to 10 times (Covalent bonding offer a very good subsequent adhesion) - Very low contamination (Thin thickness of our nano-coating achieved lowest extractables for a release) - Recyclable (Nano-coating is 0.01% on 23µm PET in Weight, also Mechanical properties after recycling process remain as a standard PET film) - Our release stand to high temperature up to 200°C - We can set a release a Mats films surfaces without changing roughness after our process. You want to know more about our toll converting or machine manufacturing capability? Come to see us at JEC Show in Paris from 5-7th of March in the French Pavilion (Polymeris/Techtera) Hall 5 – E98 See you soon !!! @CPI @plasma @prepreg @composite

Recently there has been a shift in focus towards #quantum system packaging to enable academic experiments to become "in-field" prototype systems. In many cases, the often bulky and heavy #VacuumSystems still remain as one of the fundamental limitations of system portability. Our #QuantumGlassCells allow for optical access from all sides. The large faces offer excellent #parallelism. Although the cells are #lightweight, they are incredibly #robust and are designed to operate at Ultra-high vacuum (#UHV) pressures. UHV is characterised by pressures from 10^(-9) to 10^(-12) mbar. UHV is necessary for efficient #cooling, #trapping and #manipulation of atoms. We can manufacture quantum glass cells from: #Pyrex, and Alkali #Borosilicate 7056 Glass. Custom anti-reflective coatings can be applied on the outside faces of the cells. The cells are manufactured employing #OpticalContacting techniques and are free from any frits and epoxies. This cell is 30mm x 30mm x 100mm and has been coated with our VAR anti-reflective coating. Custom requirements are welcome. Please email us at sales@torrscientific.co.uk if you’d like any further information. #VacuumTechnology #Viewport #VacuumScience #VacuumChamber #UltraHighVacuum #UHV #Xray #GlassToMetal #Quantum #Science #Technology #RD #Research #Development #Innovation #UKManufacturing #Design #Inspiration #BritishManufacturing #AtomCooling #AtomTrapping #AtomManipulation

Our world is changing, driven by fast, efficient, and massive computing resources. The mega-monolithic silicon chip is being replaced by 3D heterogeneous integration of chiplets on an organic build-up substrate platform. This is an important time for the U.S. electronics industry to regain market share and position itself for future growth. Today, the volume production of printed circuit boards (PCBs), build-up substrates or semiconductors is in Asia. In recent years, we have seen many examples of onshoring to bring PCB production back, as well as government-initiated programs (e.g., ChipsAct) to stimulate national semiconductor programs and attract investment to the United States. Now is the time to focus on build-up substrates because the story is only half cooked if the key component, the chip carrier, is not made in the US. Don’t miss this event! You can register here: https://ieee-buss.org/
The 1st US Build-up Substrate Symposium, hosted by IEEE at SEMI's headquarters in Silicon Valley, CA, USA, will bring the industry together to create new opportunities. This symposium is for everyone in the U.S. substrate supply chain, all users and those who will be users. As the U.S. Congress debates H.R. 3249, the Protecting Circuit Boards and Substrates (PCBS) Act, this symposium is an opportunity for all players in the build-up substrate industry to meet, network, and work together with the funding agencies that will be participating in this symposium to focus on onshoring build-up substrate production and use to take an important step in regaining market share and positioning the U.S. electronics industry for future growth. Sessions: - Substrate Manufacturing and Onshoring - Materials for Substrates - Emerging Substrate Technologies - Substrate Panel Equipment and Technologies - Inspection and Testing We are honored to be part of this movement and technological advancement and will continue to contribute our expertise from a chemical, process, hardware and software perspective. In addition to Kuldip Johal, Global OEM Pathfinding Senior Director at MKS' Atotech, who will lead the panel discussion on "Panel Equipment for Substrates", the MKS presentations include; "Systems Solution for Advanced Build-up Substrate Manufacturing" by Frank Brüning, GM Surface Treatment, Desmear and Metallization and "CO2 Laser Drilling for FCBGA Applications" by Kyle Baker, Product Marketing Expert. Interfacial stability is a crucial factor in attaining long-term cycling stability for sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries. During interfacial engineering processes, such as coating, the introduction of lithium impurities, such as carbonates, becomes inevitable. Here, we employed the novel nanoparticle coating strategy, where HfO2 nanoparticles served both as the final coating material and as a precursor for an in-situ reaction with residual lithium, resulting in the formation of a Li2HfO3/HfO2 hybrid coating layer. For more details, please explore the research paper worked by Ruizhuo Zhang and colleagues below: #solidstatebatteries https://lnkd.in/epWgG_bs
