How do you develop a station that invites people to travel by public transport? Manuela Triggianese is investigating on how to design stations to be more attractive, people-centred and future-proof. ‘Design plays an active role in multi-stakeholder collaborations and is instrumental in addressing sustainability challenges.’ The research discusses complex urban development challenges related to mobility and energy transition. It raises questions about how to utilize available space, integrate various functions, and design with consideration for people values. 📚 Exciting News! After 2 years of dedicated work, we're thrilled to announce the completion of our publication, "City of the Future Graduation Lab: Experiences in Multidisciplinary Education." As proud team of 25 graduates and members of Delft University of Technology Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, the Studio has been at the forefront of pioneering a multidisciplinary approach to education in the built environment. We would like to express our gratitude to Joran Kuijper, Roberto Cavallo and Maurice Harteveld for their guidance and editing, the 25 students for their projects and contributions, and highlight the editing work by me, Sonja Draskovic and Marcelo Carreiro Matias. Art and technology are often viewed as separate domains, but they're increasingly being brought together, including within Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. TU/e Innovation Space facilitates an Art & Tech course and builds a diverse Art & Tech community, uniting students and experts from scientific and cultural backgrounds. Bringing together art and technology on our campus offers numerous benefits, fostering a dynamic synergy between seemingly unrelated disciplines. We prioritize abstract and conceptual thinking to prepare students for tomorrow’s unforeseen challenges. How is digital technology used to enhance our experience of the world around us? Moving from collaborative design platforms to augmented reality, this special edition of the Architecture Science Review Journal offers an overview of how digital technology is currently used within the built environment disciplines in teaching, research and practice to improve and enhance users' experience. The huge variety of speakers mean the discussion will range from how construction is using it here and now, to speculative opportunities for BIM. And yes, Generative AI will also come up. Many of us (and I include myself in this) know it can be brilliant as a construction / project management tool, but struggle to see it as a design tool. Is it really the right software for students who have never seen a building on site?
