UNFOLDED SECTION : Revealing Spatial Narration at the Chichu Art Museum ( 1 MIN READ ) The Chichu Art Museum, a triumph of art and architecture, has always fascinated me. Tadao Ando's seamless fusion of nature, light, and art in this unique space has left an indelible imprint on my architectural journey. In this case study, I aim to pay homage to the genius of Ando while delving into how the concept of the "unfolded section" unveils the layered spatial tale of the Chichu Art Museum. Unfolded section is an architectural technique that peels back the layers of a building's design, revealing its evolution from inception to completion through a sequence of sectional representations. Drawing inspiration from Tadao Ando's mastery of light and materiality, I've applied this concept to the Chichu Art Museum, a structure that exemplifies Ando's transformative vision. This case study stands as both a tribute to the Chichu Art Museum and a testament to the power of the unfolded section as an analytical tool in architecture. Just as Tadao Ando's work transcends conventional boundaries to become an immersive experience, I hope this study provides insight into the narrative potential of architectural representation.

Hong Kong Architecture Micro Film Competition 2022 (Merit Entry) Description : A film following a young man’s self discovery of light in architecture as he intimately reveals the various colour tones of artificial lighting while he walks through the Jordan district. The making of this microfilm is part of an experimental approach to revolve around architecture, society and how lighting helps define both aspects. During the film, the art of cinematography and photography were put into use in order to demonstrate how lighting fabricates different architectural spaces. Since the microfilm was filmed in the heart of Jordan, multiple angles were used to capture different scenarios, from the bustling street market to the deserted market building. The film also attempts to create three different atmospheric feeling for the viewers by using three different colour tones. For instance, the white lighting represents a sense of loneliness, emptiness & abandonment in architecture. The yellow lighting represents a warmth yet mystical feeling. Lastly, the mixture of different colours represents the dynamic part of the district, emphasising how light gathers people into.

🌷🎞 Recently we launched a new #immersive project, 'Passion for Architecture', in collaboration with the National Center for Contemporary Arts. We did not set out to tell the history and theory of architecture in dry academic language. The project aims to show the viewer the evolution of architectural styles through symbolic and emotional means. All the techniques characteristic of contemporary art, all the methods of influencing the viewer - light, sound, spatial objects and installations, video art, works of art in various techniques and even smells, which form the basis of the exposition, serve first of all the main purpose - to create an emotional experience of the space of this or that architectural style or even of the whole epoch, because it is the essence of the aesthetic perception of architecture. 🎥 The logical conclusion of the project is an immersive film "The World through Gaudi's Eyes". It gives the viewer an opportunity to look at the most famous works of the genius Spanish artist Antonio Gaudi from a different perspective. Architectural masterpieces, including the famous Sagrada Familia, are presented in a new way thanks to the projection of the film on the walls and floor of the multimedia hall. Below is a short excerpt from the #immersivemovie 👇

Those BIG Architects from around the world, and Brooklyn too, are shining once again! This time the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and some other big names in architectural design impressed the United States Navy with their designs for a slated new National Museum of the United States Navy! I learned all this from none other than Parametric Architecture online magazine, where I find so many amazing architectural design and related stories. Here PA Editor Serra Utkum ikiz explains, "BIG’s vision for the planned new museum reflects the historical context of the Navy Yard while referencing the scale, materials, and details of Navy vessels. An array of large-scale vitrines opens up towards a public street, welcoming visitors and locals with an impressive glimpse into the museum’s collection of artifacts inside and outside, conveying the mission, lineage, and breadth of operations that constitute the US Navy." As it is said, You can take the BIG out of Brooklyn, butchya can't take Brooklyn outta da BIG. The old Brooklyn Navy Yod salutes you BIG! And thanks for the story out there in Istanbul Serra! #JoinTheCommunity #ConstructionRevolution #ConstructionTechnology #3DPrinting #BuildingInnovation #3dhomes #3dhouse #3dhouses #robot #robotics #contech #innovation #tech #technology #construction #housing #concrete #buildings #ai #3dcp #3dprinter #parametricarchitecture #additivemanufacturing #sustainability #construction #architecture #architecturaldesign #architects
