It's time for more cyber summer travel tips. This week we talk about the moneyyyyy $$$. I want to make sure you understand the pros and cons of various payment methods. Week 6: Payment Safety Mobile Payments: 👍🏽 Advantages: Apps like Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and Samsung Pay use encryption and tokenization, making them very secure. They’re convenient and reduce the need to carry physical cards. I love the convenience and security of paying with my watch! ❌ Risks: If your phone or watch is lost or stolen, it could be a hassle unless you have robust security measures in place. 💃🏽 Pro Tip: Enable biometric authentication (like fingerprint or facial recognition) and ensure your phone has a strong password. Regularly update your mobile payment apps. Credit Cards: 👍🏽 Advantages: Credit cards offer strong fraud protection and are widely accepted. Many cards also come with travel perks like insurance and rewards points. ❌ Risks: They can be susceptible to skimming and fraud, especially if you don't have alerts set up. 🕺🏽 Pro Tip: Use cards with EMV chips for added security. Enable transaction alerts and review your statements regularly. 💳 Another Thing to Note: Notice I didn't say debit card?! That's because it's not as safe to use a debit card. That's a direct line right into your $$$ with little safeguards. Leave at home or store in a safe place when traveling. Traveling Internationally? The Wise App: Have you used this before? I learned about it when speaking with the wonderful Carolyn Ray and the group at JourneyWoman™: Women Over 50 Travel. It's a great tool for a payment option abroad. 👍🏽 Advantages: With Wise, you can send money, receive payments from abroad, check exchange rates, and pay bills. It's especially great if you are going to multiple countries with different currencies. ❌ Risks: As with any financial app, ensure you’re downloading the official version and keep your login details secure. ⚡ Pro Tip: Set up two-factor authentication on your Wise account for added security. Regularly check for updates to the app to ensure you have the latest security features. And I really could go on and on about this week's topic when it comes to RFID blocking sleeves, cash, digging into skimmers, and more! What are your go-to payment methods when you travel? 👍🏽 Like, comment, and share to spread the word and keep your friends and family secure. ___________________ Catch up on the tips from previous weeks: Week 1: Travel Notifications & Securing Your Mail https://lnkd.in/g2PTmwkg Week 2: Mobile and App Safety https://lnkd.in/gp3UpmvP Week 3: Comprehensive Device Security https://lnkd.in/g2h5rGic Week 4: Digital Leashes + Unwanted Tracking https://lnkd.in/gEcph7Gz Week 5: Week 5: Connectivity on the Go https://lnkd.in/geh8YWF7
