https://lnkd.in/efS9z3yH Dear Linked In Friends and Colleagues, Many of you are aware of my battle with Prostate Cancer over the past 9 years; Radical Prostatectomy, Radiation, Chemotherapy and Hormone Therapy, and all of the side effects that go along with these treatments (feel free to contact me if you want additional information). Throughout it all, I have tried to keep a positive attitude. Having a support system, including many of you, has been invaluable during this journey. I have also tried to not let it affect my lifestyle; competing in a variety of sports and running my business. Prior to the pandemic I participated in a 5K for Prostate awareness on Father’s Day as a member of someone else’s team. It was fun and rewarding, and our team had the most participants, raised the most money as a team, and we also had some of the fastest runners in the event. After that event, I vowed to come back with my own team, and take over as the top team. I may be a little competitive, but this is how we help raise $$ and awareness. The past two years, with your help, I have put together a SUPER TEAM, “I _______ with Kap,” and we have had the largest team, raised the most $$ and certainly had the most fun. I am inviting ALL of you to join or donate to our 2024 team. Our goal is to always have the most participants, raise the most amount of money and have the fastest team. We only have a couple week to accomplish these lofty goals, but with your help, I know we can do it. Register, Donate and invite everyone you know to participate. The statistics speak for themselves. One in seven men will encounter prostate cancer in their lifetime. Every 20 minutes a man we love loses his life to prostate cancer. By generating greater awareness and education about prostate cancer, we can change these statistics. Early detection can save lives.

Hello, professional network! I am serving as AKF Group's Cycle for Survival Team Captain for the 9th year and would love to have your support! Cycle for Survival is the movement to bear rare cancers. Teams participate in an indoor cycling relay on spin bikes by pedaling hard... or hardly pedaling! This year, Team AKF will participate on Thursday, March 7. Day 2 of Movember - Let's talk cancer: My very own Papa Luigi is a prostate cancer survivor (and thriver)! Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men, and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. However, for firefighters, studies have found a 1.15-fold increased risk of prostate cancer diagnosis – meaning that for every 100 non-firefighters with prostate cancer there were 115 male firefighters diagnosed! Early detection is critical! In Canada, Movember is the second largest funder of overall projects relating to prostate cancer research, investing over $107 million since 2008. Over the holiday break I was gifted a 1000 piece jigsaw which had to be done in just 2 days as I was travelling home. Not a task I could do on my own so I enlisted the help of my neices and nephews to get it done... (why do I always leave the sky to last?!)... a true team effort and we all shared a sense of satisfaction as the last piece was placed in the puzzle. 🙌 Returning to the office this week Australian Cancer Research Foundation I'm bringing the lessons from jigsaw-ing to my work.... 1. Sorting the pieces of the puzzle - listing out all of our strategic goals and "buckets" of work 2. Finding the corners and border pieces - prioritising projects and tasks 3. Allowing everyone to contribute - engaging my team and encouraging their contributions 4. Acknowledging that someone else may have that one piece to the puzzle that we need - everyone brings something unique to the table 5. When it gets frustrating, take a break - having some space to think and regroup can provide an important circuit breaker and re-invigorate everyone 6. Sharing the success when the project/job is done - we need to celebrate our wins, no matter how small So here's to a great start to 2024 and Lara El-Eter, Isabella Hill and @SarahHawkesford are you up for some jigsawing in 2024!? #teamwork #cancerresearch #research #oncology
