With the collaboration and expertise of professional engineers including Wen-hui Zhang, Adrien Piedboeuf, Gregorio Morra, Lorenzo Bonsembiante and myself, we successfully executed an ambitious project that stands as a significant achievement at the University of Louvain-La-Neuve. Our success wouldn't have been possible without the invaluable guidance and support from our esteemed teachers Pierre Latteur, Laurent Ney and thibaut thyrion. This project aimed to address a crucial challenge - the facilitation of animal passage, considering the site's specificities and its surroundings, and, where necessary, proposing adjustments to the urban development plan for the future Athena-Lauzelle district. Our endeavor involved meticulous planning, detailed site analysis, and innovative structural design to create animal-friendly infrastructure, optimizing connections with the Lauzelle and Villers woods. Additionally, we meticulously designed and calculated the construction of overpasses for the N25/N4 and E411, including comprehensive execution plans. We also strategically located and designed a nocturnal observation post, ensuring minimal disruption to animal pathways. Our collaborative effort not only showcases our technical prowess but also underscores our commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. Embarking on the 4th round of exploration, this semester's journey zooms into the heart of a small town! 🏡 The countdown begins with just 4 weeks until the start of an intriguing academic adventure. Anticipation is high as we delve into the world of 4D-Geodesigning Urban Transformation, focusing on 10-Minuten-Neighbourhoods Zug. Collaborating across disciplines, students from the Departments of Architecture, Civil, Environmental, and Geomatic Engineering, and Environmental Science at ETH Zürich will immerse themselves in the unique case study of Stadt Zug. Our mission: analyze current land use, assess necessary changes in zoning laws, and envision the creation of 10-Minuten-Nachbarschaften by emphasizing vertical growth over horizontal expansion. The process involves integrating current land use laws into #ArcGISUrban and modeling urban transformation to derive new rules. Special thanks to Edvardas Bukota for data collection from #ArcGISOnline, geodienste.ch, and zugmap.ch, seamlessly bridging the gap from #ArcGISpro back to #ArcGISOnline and into #ArcGISUrban. The ACCIONA team for the sincere-project organized a guided tour for NetHood at the #DemoSiteAlgete, where innovative materials are evaluated, in comparison with reference products in controlled real life conditions. We asked the question: what would the mock-ups say if they could talk? The casetas, as the ACCIONA scientists call the mock-ups, might look insignificant as buildings, but the knowledge produced for sustainable materials in their premises can affect the whole building industry, and the planet. The sincere-project develops a dedicated web site for the Algete #SincerePilot, where the casetas will explain the basics of sustainable construction, report on the progress of the SINCERE experiments, and why not entertain us while their sensors are collecting data.
