By partnering with Schroders on this initiative on blockchain technology in reinsurance, Hannover Re is paving the way to a broadening of ILS solutions. This will provide us with the necessary insights and expertise to effectively navigate and seize future retrocession opportunities. #HannoverRe #Schroders
Schroders Capital has launched an innovative tokenisation pilot designed to evolve the way insurance-linked securities (ILS) investments are invested and managed. The initiative with Hannover Re, which has been tested by Schroders on an internal-only basis, has successfully enabled reinsurance contracts to be tokenised and traded on a public blockchain using smart contracts. Each token represents a share in a portfolio of reinsurance contracts, demonstrating how ILS funds may invest via a digital eco-system in the future. Tokenising these contracts allowed many time-consuming processes to be automated, creating greater efficiency and enhancing transparency of transactions, improving the client experience. Find out more: https://okt.to/EMytfj The pilot further builds on our commitment to innovation, following joining the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)'s Project Guardian, participating in the first ever GBP Digital Bond issued by the European Investment Bank and last week launching an AI-based investment analyst platform for our Private Equity team. #digitalassets #tokenisation #blockchain #dlt #innovation #ai #reinsurance #ILS

Gamification – enabled by #artificialintelligence and #machinelearning – is emerging as a popular tool to engage and motivate insurance app users. Jaco Oosthuizen, co-founder and MD of YuLife South Africa, says approximately half of its current users engage with the app daily, ranking the app alongside some of the most successful social media apps on this measure, and putting it among the highest-engaged insurance apps worldwide. “We are in the initial phases of AI and gamification in insurance. Insurers risk losing their competitive edge if they do not invest in #AI and machine learning, and stay up to speed with the latest client engagement-focused #predictiveanalytics and modelling,” he says. How to measure extremes? This was the main question at our workshop we held for the Italian market last month near Milan. This edition was particularly special, not only because we had a record number of participants, but also because of the important context of last year's severe hailstorms. These storms resulted in the most expensive insured loss ever recorded in Italy, making it crucial to address this topic comprehensively. In our discussions, we tackled the issue from different perspectives: 🔹 Climate data: how can we acquire reliable climate data? 🔹 Insurance and reinsurance impact: what were the consequences for our industry? 🔹 Modeling improvements: how can we enhance our models to better serve our industry? Serious topics, but great #wespirit. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to these vital discussions!
