Late last night, I was invited to be a guest on BBC Live Studio to discuss the blockage of aid into Gaza and the restrictive measures impacting the local population's access to aid. It's one of those situations where you may have a plan in mind, but as soon as the first question is asked, you find yourself deviating from the script. Thank Erin Delmore for having me as a guest.

Wounded Child No Surviving Family - bring that thought home and imagine if it was you… It is an uncomfortable truth to swallow but shame on us adults that children anywhere in our world ever have to suffer like this. They deserve better from us, our decisions, our reactions and the structures that should be in place to protect them. My young son of eleven caught a clip of this war in Gaza the other day on the news. His jaw dropped and his eyes widened with what he saw. He said ‘If they keep fighting each other surely that only makes things worse. They need to find a way to talk and fix it’’. Children so often know what is the right thing to do but we adults are stuck in our stories of this is the only way based on our past experiences and our need for power and control and an inability to step into another’s shoes. Fear is never a good basis for quality decision making. Infact we should be focused on protecting our natural world for generations to come not destroying it. Everyday is an opportunity to step into courage to create something better for everyone. Delivering more of the same behaviour just creates the same results. Adding pain over and over will solve nothing and only develop a longer term division and suffering. Peace has been achieved in Northern Ireland after hundreds of years of conflict, with a terror group people said could never be spoken to or negotiated with. It is still fragile but there was the political will globally to create and maintain it when some had their own selfish political agendas to rock the boat again. It is possible to change things. If we feel powerless we can each do it every day in our own individual lives. To reach out and connect with our fellow man to find what unites us rather than divides us. It is time to think again for the sake of all the children who are suffering here on both sides of the divide and in many other parts of the world too. It starts in each and every home everywhere today. 💖 #leadership #wellbeingmatters #children #future #loveandconnection

Within Africa's vast landscape, a disturbing reality persists: human trafficking preys on the innocence of our children. Let's not ignore this harsh truth. Instead, let's leverage our voices to spread awareness, initiate dialogue, and champion concrete actions. Together, we can dismantle the chains of exploitation and offer hope to those ensnared in its grasp. #BreakTheSilence #ProtectOurYouth"

On 29 June 2023, the #UN General Assembly adopted resolution A/77/L.79 to create an Independent Institution on Missing Persons in the Syrian Arab Republic. This new institution will have two aims: (1) to clarify the fate and whereabouts of all missing persons in #Syria and (2) to provide adequate support to victims, survivors and the families of those missing. In this blog post, our #faculty member Professor Gabriella Citroni argues with Grazyna Baranowska that it is crucial for the new independent institution to explicitly address enforced disappearances. https://lnkd.in/e5pCKWdq

#USspokeperson is basically saying this, "We know there are beaches and many innocent Palestinian die, majority of them are women and children. We try to ensure the humanitarian support snd delivered. But, yes, our policies have not changed (even since #ICC #ICJ rulings and humantights reports). US #provided lethal weapons and intelligence will contain to facilitate #GazaGenocide #warcrimes. Thank you to CNN and Clarissa Ward for the first ever footage from mainstream media about the “atrocities in Gaza” Watch the video until the end, see the horror and ask some important questions: Why have no mainstream media outlets been allowed inside Gaza after 10 weeks of destruction even though the rate of the death toll has exceeded any other conflict in modern times. Where is the condemnation against the over 60 courageous murdered journalists who have provided the only glimpse into the horrors? Consider the impact it makes when the victims are humanized into real innocent people who have nowhere to flee? How can we justify starving these already traumatized victims? How is it ok to destroy hospitals and expect overwhelmed field hospitals to address the carnage? How does condemning this equate to criticism of a religious faith? The logic is skewed. This violence against civilians is not justified by any faith tradition, and equating the two hurts the very people who proclaim faith. https://lnkd.in/gn23u_PF

Good interview from a month ago. Israel has now killed over 12,000 Palestinian children in under 5 months, has orphaned over 25,000 more children, and has made over 800,000 children homeless during winter. And Israel is still blocking international aid to these children, killing them with starvation, dehydration, and disease, in addition to killing them with U.S. supplied bombs and ammunition. Aid agencies have even had to come up with a new acronym: WCNSF, which stands for Wounded Child No Surviving Family. And because Israel is even blocking medical supplies while continuing to bomb civilian areas, doctors have had to amputate the limbs of over 1000 children WITHOUT ANESTHESIA. Can you imagine if your child was among them? Source: https://lnkd.in/gyH8Af9A PLEASE WRITE & CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES & the Whitehouse to demand that they stop helping Israel kill and starve children, commit war crimes, and maintain its brutal and racist apartheid, with our tax dollars. Our government has the power to end this unimaginable cruelty by simply refusing to send more weapons and ammunition to Israel, and by also not vetoing any more UN Security Council resolutions for a ceasefire.
