what's in a name? usually about S$400000 quote - ""as Singapore geared up to market the Marina Bay area to international developers in the mid-2000s, it was decided that a new name was needed for the precinct - "Marina Bay" being an informal name at the time. The brand consultancy Interbrand was engaged to identify this name, and after running about 400 options through market tests, focus group discussions and consultations in a process that cost S$400,000 (about US$300,000 today), they decided that the best name for Marina Bay was "Marina Bay". In its annual report for the 2005-2006 financial year, URA said: "Extensive research and consultation with a diverse group of stakeholders over 9 months showed that both the local and international audience were familiar with the 'Marina Bay' name." unquote in order to save Singapore government USD$300000 for hunting for a suitable name for "Long Island" .... my pariwar has given our top 10 below to options below at no cost. 1) pisang goreng (deep friend banana) 2) pa tong ko (deep fried dough) 3) ikan bilis (anchovy island) 4) Gostan (go astern) 5) Be La Kang (at the rear) 6) Luar panjang (uncommonly long) 7) alamak strip (referring to the fact that you though you had a sea-facing unit but now you have a resouvoir facing unit. 8) how can island 9) udon island (referring to its length) 10) how about just "long island" Singapore government many not need to pay Interbrand US$300000 to do a public feedback survey. lah.

IMPORTANT - CBRE Lantau 2 Peaks - season opener in Hong Kong. Start Training Early: Give yourself enough time to build up your endurance and strength. Don't save it until last minute as this course is hard. Familiarize Yourself with the Course: Study the route and terrain of the CBRE Lantau 2 Peaks Trail Race. Plan recces and get out there and feel elevation changes, technical sections and what it does to you. Practice Hill Training: Lantau Peak and Sunset Peak are known for their steep ascents and descents. Include hill repeats and stair workouts in your training as we know many of you are from other countries and don't realize what these 2 peaks are like and in hot temperatures around 30c as extremely tough if not prepared. Strengthen Your Core and Stability: Trail running requires stability and balance. Incorporate exercises that target your core muscles and improve your overall stability, such as planks, side planks, single-leg exercises, and balance drills. Test Your Gear and Hydration Strategy: Don't wait until race day, test out your trail running shoes, socks, clothing, and any other gear you plan to use. Just a friendly reminder as speak to anyone who has completed this race and most will say they wish they did more training over the summer. Good luck! https://lnkd.in/g-2be5sC #Lantau2Peaks #L2P #training #preparation #seasonopener

It is not easy to change life habits, especially when they involve traffic changes. However, the old towns of historic cities need to be more pedestrian-friendly than polluting car traffic. This practice is used in many tourist towns and parks around the world. We are glad that the project created by Bauland together with Trakai District Municipality is gradually entering realization phase. Follow the news and project implementation stages. The goal of the project is to use temporary measures, in the section of Karaimų street to create a shared space that will calm traffic and humanize the public space. Project concept: 1. Traffic reorganization - temporary measures are used to create a shared street space where all street users share the space equally. In such spaces, pedestrians and cyclists feel safer and move more freely. Pavement painting as a means of artistic installation helps to create a pedestrian-friendly street environment. 2. Creating strategic zones - short-term leisure and rest zones for pedestrians are formed near important historical objects and buildings in the street space. 3. Greening the street - instead of the current parking lots, green islands with tree beds, pots of flowers, bushes and benches are proposed. The impression of a historical alley is created for a more pleasant street space, the greenery also limits noise and pollution. Restricted transit traffic is created by installing appropriate road markings in places required for traffic diversion. Local residents and owners of institutions and businesses are permitted to access their homes by issuing appropriate permits. Recreation & Open Space Planner at Midcoast Council | Member of Parks & Leisure Australia (PLA) National Advisory | JP, Mmnt, ASM, NEM, DFSM, CPLP
I was up in Koscozco National Park today to run the Kosci Ultra (50km). The video link below is of the start. 3000 runners, and their supporters drove thousands of kilometres (me) and poured many thousands of dollars into the Jindabyne community, in their off season, when they normally don't make any money. And on a Thursday, with everyone needing to take multiple days off work. 3000 runners, and their families, took a whole week off work to attend the event, in the middle of nowhere. The event offers 27km, 50km. 100km and 100mile, so it is spread over 5 days. I have mentioned this before but events, and especially extreme events, are taking over and capturing a large percentage of the Australian population, at least those that are attracted to extreme events. They blend a great product, with amazing scenery, often in national parks. Event managers, and operators, have become expert at providing a high quality product for participants. You get your fix, and you get to drive away with no requirements. I have said it before, but physical activity events are taking over from what sports clubs used to offer. Society has morphed into something else, and in my opinion the sports model hasn't been able to adapt (in most cases) to what people want. Events have done that. #events #running Brad Billett Martyn Hancock Rochelle Eime Dr Lindsey Reece John Tower https://lnkd.in/gq2E8S-w
