Great to see work on our project at Doncaster Corn Exchange progressing on site. #retrofit #reuse

Corn Exchange Doncaster Well after nearly a year of intense work by our internal team, PBM and many local contractors, the internal scaffolding is now down, and we thought we would share a photo of the current space. We have also included an old black and white photo of the building taken during the early part of its now 150-year-old duration at the heart of Doncaster’s markets. It’s a bustling space and you clearly see how it was used by the residents of Doncaster. With the scaffolding down now the hard work starts, as we look to the fitting out of the space. Allowing the regenerated space to begin the next stage of its future role within the City of Doncaster. But first comes the ground works, and just like in 1994 and 1996, we are having to undertake very careful excavations because of the history around the site. Those works in the 90’s uncovered early Roman pottery and a number of medieval graves from the cemetery of the lost church of St Mary Magdalene. With the support of PCAS Archaeology Ltd providing a watching brief the PBM team and our contractors will ensure all the works are carefully undertaken. We will look to keep everybody informed as works progress and let you know if anything is uncovered. Some additional photos as excavation work continues on site. #Doncaster #CityofDoncaster #DoncasterCornExchange UDCS Ltd Jim Hopper Danielle House #LUF #levelup #doncasterisgreat Doncaster Council Jane Simpson Group Ginger
