To reduce emissions in the oil and gas industry, decarbonization strategies are key. This involves adopting cleaner production technologies, improving energy efficiency, and investing in renewable energy sources. As a Power Plant Supervisor experienced in HAZOP and safety audits, leading initiatives at CCED to minimize emissions through optimized energy use and adherence to environmental regulations is crucial. Let's work together to reduce our carbon footprint and create a sustainable future. #sustainability #energyefficiency #renewableenergy #emissionsreduction #oilandgasindustry CCED

According to the IEA, investment in renewable energy from 2020 to 2022 rose by 40%. In 2022, 40% of total installed capacity was in renewable energy for a total of 295 GWs. This is set to increase to 500 GWs in 2023. By 2030 renewable power is expected to make up 80% of new power capacity. This rush from fossil fuel to renewable power is outpacing our ability to adjust our regulatory framework on how investment is incentivized, causing disputes over promised production levels. Emerging untested technology, experimental government incentives and project complexity are just a few of the issues causing an uptick in disputes over renewable power at both the construction and commissioning stages. Based on my experience pricing claims in the power construction sector, both in fossil fuel and renewables, I'd like to share my article which will be published in the upcoming Oil, Gas and Energy Law (OGEL) journal focusing on Climate Litigation. https://lnkd.in/guCnEQ9h

When developing energy storage projects, one factor is environmental considerations, which play a big role in developing new energy storage projects. For example, the increased scrutiny of environmental impact assessments is now an integral part of any renewable energy project. Moreover, it is an increasingly complex regulatory environment, with state and local regulations presenting a significant impact to the length of time these projects take to complete.

Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation’s proposals are exactly what our Government wants to see more of in Western Australia. That’s Reece Whitby talking, WA Minister for Energy, Environment, and Climate Action. The Minister is talking about the Western Australian government's fast-track approval for Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation in partnership with ACEN Australia's 150 megawatt (MW) solar project in the Pilbara. The environmental approval is the first to be given under the state government’s new Green Energy Approvals Initiative, reports RenewEconomy. Partnering with First Nations on energy projects, enabling free, prior, and informed consent, a seat at the table, participation and inclusion, equity and benefit-sharing, reduces delay in the energy transition. RE100 OPENS CONSULTATION AROUND PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE TECHNICAL CRITERIA 🔎 RE100 reviews its technical criteria every two years to adapt to better market practices that enhance renewable electricity (RES-E) procurement; with 2022 revised technical criteria entering into force on 1 January 2024. 📝 Previously, the initiative revised its view of a single market for renewables in Europe, excluding the UK and introducing a 15-year age limit on commissioning/repowering of power plants. The initiative put forward four new proposals, which will now be subject to an open consultation closing on 27 May 2024. In the 2024 revision of technical criteria, RE100 does not put forward significant restrictive changes, as GHG Protocol Scope 2 revision is currently underway. ✅ Instead, proposals cover criteria on co-firing or mixing of renewable and non-renewable fuels, requiring energy attribute certificates (EACs) for all RES-E purchasing from the grid in markets where EACs are available; relaxation of the original off-taker exemption to the facility age limit, and reclassification of procurement types. 📈 The second proposal is the only one that may have an impact on the GO market. This requirement would apply in markets with one or more established EAC registries (defined as the presence of a public EAC registry or an I-REC or equivalent private registry) and has the potential to introduce additional demand onto the REGO and GO markets. I quantify potential demand from this change on Veyt platform. While a new ‘original off-taker' definition could have implications for the PPA markets, comments my colleague Irina Peltegova. P.S. Veyt launched a new product - a unique PPA forecasting model helping companies to calculate the fair value of the contract components linked to a German onshore wind power asset, existing or prospected. Today, Energy Innovation published a report examining the reliability impacts of the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed rules regulating greenhouse gas emissions from coal and gas plants. We found that existing research demonstrates it is feasible to maintain reliability under the rules. Furthermore, the parties that will lead this transition, especially regional transmission operators and utilities, and their regulators, can take proactive policy actions that we outline in the report to ensure we can add enough new resources to replace the reliability value provided by affected fossil plants. The rules codify emissions standards that reflect the transition already underway, and simply make more concrete the reliability issues that grid managers should already be planning for given technology and cost trends. You can read more about what the research says, and our policy recommendations, at the link below! https://lnkd.in/gtSmr6Fv
