Stadler and Siemens Complete Delivery of 104 Berlin S-Bahn Trains A consortium comprised of Stadler and Siemens Mobility has completed the delivery of 106 new trains manufactured for the #Berlin #SBahn. The new 483/484 series vehicles were delivered on schedule and are now fully operational across the city. These #trains aim to offer a higher level of passenger comfort and are thus equipped with air conditioning, modern passenger information systems and security cameras. Elmar Zeiler, Head of Commuter and Regional Trains at Siemens Mobility said: “As a company with Berlin roots, we are particularly proud that we are contributing to a #sustainable improvement in the #travel experience and comfort for passengers on the Berlin S-Bahn. The trains of the new 483/484 series not only shine through their reliability, more seats and air conditioning, but also through their modern, energy-efficient drive technology.” Alongside replacing older vehicles, the new trains have increased the capacity of the S-Bahn network to enable longer trains to operate on the #Ringbahn lines S41/S42 and the S8 line. All 106 vehicles were ordered in 2015 and have been gradually put into operation since the beginning of 2021. I am therefore pleased that the fleet is now complete. With significantly more space on board and many technical innovations, we are making climate-friendly public transport even more attractive. What a great event this week to celebrate 20 years of #achievements and put the finger where it still hurts: the 3-day #ERTMS2024 conference hosted by European Union Agency for Railways in Valenciennes. I was particularly pleased to see that #ERTMS is finally approached as a #comprehensive topic that effects the entire industry, not „just“ for signalling experts. Great #achievement! A special thank you to Rainer Beller for presenting today‘s #challenges to rolling stock owners: expensive upgrades, time-consuming situations - and sometimes your area of use gets smaller than before.
