Meet Avery Fry, our office administrator! We couldn’t do the work we do without her behind-the-scenes coordination, and we couldn’t have the fun we have without the careful planning she puts into our favorite Gitwit events. Get to know Avery below: Tell us about how you came to Gitwit! I had just graduated from OU and moved back to Tulsa to figure out my next adventure after college. I knew I didn't want a "normal" job so I was having a hard time finding something that stood out to me. I stumbled across Gitwit's social pages and took an immediate interest after looking into the work they've done and, of course, the intern page on the website. Lucky for me, they were hiring! I applied right away and the rest is history ✨ What does a typical day look like as someone in your role? A huge part of my role can be explained by our ops team motto: "we clear the path for innovation." I like to start my day with an office walkthrough - tidying up conference rooms, stocking our snack stations, etc., to make sure the office looks nice, is organized and stocked for Nitwits and our guests. I help with scheduling meetings, managing calendars, taking care of office maintenance needs and handling office projects. I also work on event planning, from team bonding events to our annual holiday party along with coordinating holiday gifts for Nitwits and our clients. What is something that has inspired you lately? I've been taking adult gymnastics classes for about a year now. I'm inspired by the women of all ages who show up alongside me to try something completely new and push themselves to learn skills that some may have thought wouldn't be possible. It's a fun way to exercise, but the women in my classes continue to inspire me by providing community, confidence and encouragement to myself and one another. What does your ideal weekend look like? My ideal weekend is spent with my friends and family. Whether it's getting brunch, going shopping, walking my dog Zoey or just binging Love Island UK all day, I just want to spend time with the people I love. #tulsa #tulsaok #greatplacetowork #agencylife

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝘄? 🤔 There are plenty of job opportunities out there, so we wanted to know why three of our new employees wanted to work with us. Have a look for yourself as they explain their main reasons for joining us 💫 🤗 Marisa: I heard positive things from a friend. I wanted to work for Front Row because of the variety of interesting projects, the positive corporate culture, and the development opportunities. 🌐 Giorgio: I am interested in languages, translation, and technology, and the company offered a welcoming international working environment that is open to innovation. 👩💻 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮: I saw this as a chance to progress in a positive and open-minded environment. I believe that being part of Front Row will give me opportunities to develop my professional expertise. 50% of devs couldn't care less about a "Best Place to Work" award! So, what do you want to see studios shout about on their careers page/website? The results are from a poll I ran last week 📊 This is by no means the most robust research 😂 but I think it's pretty interesting If half of your potential hires/current employees don't value it, is it something to strive for? Only 13% said it means a lot to them 🤔 The sentiment around it was largely that: Some studios try to drum up votes internally which means it isn't much of a fair reflection of the company Some studios that score highly have then been terrible places to work Some studios that have been fantastic places to work don't even bother with them What do you want to see from studios?

In small or mid-sized organizations, as a CEO or leader, you have the capacity to personally know and track each employee. This close oversight enables you to offer more freedom to your employees, including the opportunity to take on external projects or jobs, provided these do not interfere with their primary responsibilities. You appreciate this approach as it encourages employees to think creatively and gain diverse experiences. However, in large organizations with over a thousand employees, this personal oversight becomes impractical. As a CEO, it's challenging to track each individual's activities. Additionally, delegating this responsibility to managers or HR may not effectively replicate your perspective or approach. These larger structures often necessitate more standardized policies and practices, which might limit the flexibility you value in smaller settings. Thus, while the concept of allowing employees to pursue external opportunities can be beneficial in smaller organizations, implementing the same in larger corporations presents logistical and management challenges. Can a company “ask” its employees to moonlight? In our team wariCrew we do exactly that! I have always encouraged my team members to work at different places, pursue multiple gigs, and also take up different kinds of projects. Better yet, I have offered them roles that my acquaintances had openings for! Both full-timers and interns in my team. When you do not want to “restrict” your team, and trust them instead: 1. They will grow in their skills and not be limited to what you have to offer. 2. They will understand their time-money relationship over time, which is an important lesson. 3. They will always want to return 10X of that trust. Win-win-win! Magic happens when one starts with trust. #team #success #people #warikoo

🌟 My 2-year work anniversary at Betfair Romania Development, as part of the FanDuel division took place not long ago, and I believe it's time to reflect on what happened during these years full of challenges and professional achievements. Looking back, I realise how a dynamic environment allows us to grow and to practice what we learn. Flexibility and adaptability are essential for success in the workplace, as well as the drive and the consistency. 💡 What happened in my career in these 2 years? • I managed to grow to Sr. Software Engineer. • I had the chance to work on two business areas of the company. • I collaborated with multiple teams and stakeholders. • I completed quite a bunch of trainings and online courses - focused on technology, leadership, agile methodologies and management. • I participated into multiple hackathons with my team. • I improved my presentation and technical documentation skills. • I've held multiple technical interviews, each one bringing different challenges. • I've learnt what monitoring a live app means from a technical perspective. • I've been a buddy for two new team members, and a mentee in an internal mentoring program. • I've improved my technical knowledge of the entire FanDuel environment. • I've learnt to work with colleagues who have different perspectives and a different approach to daily tasks. • I've expanded my business knowledge in multiple areas of interest. • I've learned to better manage my time and to create a prioritisation system. • I've grown to pay more attention to code quality and how we can measure it. • I had the chance to experience remote and hybrid work and see what works best for me. 🌟 These years have been quite an adventure and I am eager to see what comes next. #fanduel #betfairromaniadevelopment #workanniversary #workanniversarycelebration #team #companyculture #employeerecognition

Helping your B2B brand gain Awareness, Build clientele, and achieve best-in-class Credibility through Video Marketing!
How far will you go for your staff? Going on shoots can be tough. Sometimes it’s outdoors, and we are at the mercy of the weather. Today, we are at a construction site, working on a project with one of our clients PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency. Apart from obvious safety considerations, There’s also construction particles in the air, And the merciless hot sun baking our heads. Here is me lending a hand to my colleague Jing Ri Lim Who has his hands full with the camera equipment. This season, due to manpower supply shortage, we do not have an intern. In the absence of available interns, Good leaders need to have the humility to go where the intern cannot, To perform the thankless tasks that must be done for the good of our team. Despite the harsh physical conditions, I really enjoy going on shoots! It is one of the best ways to build camaraderie with your team, To get some much-needed physical exercise, And to sharpen the Mind with new experiences. Interesting, the same is true for clients. We often build great relationships with clients, AFTER suffering through a shoot with them. Much like an army bootcamp, Our human mind develops special bonds And catalyses a sense of trust and community, When we work as a team towards achieving a physically challenging endeavour. And nothing quite beats the physical immediacy of a video Production, Where anything that can go wrong, often do! 🥲 Nonetheless: It is one of the unique privileges, And key features of my job that I wouldn’t trade for anything else! What is the toughest environment you enjoy working under? #construction #Teambonding #videoproduction #gramvideos #Camaraderie #PUB #lakealkaff #Workenvironment
