📢🌟 Exciting news! Announcing the SDG Outcomes initiative.   One of the first of its kind, this initiative, developed by the UBS Optimus Foundation and Bridges Outcomes Partnerships, brings together British International Investment and U.S. International Development Finance Corporation as anchor investors alongside private investors including Tsao Family Office Pte. Ltd. and Legatum for a pioneering USD 100m blended finance initiative focused on delivering SDG-aligned outcomes   SDG Outcomes uses an innovative #blendedfinance structure to design, support and deliver projects for those who need it most, especially in Africa and Asia, including India and in other low- and middle-income countries around the world. Funded by donations from over 30 UBS clients, we are providing 20% first-loss capital to unlock additional impact-driven capital. Trilegal advised SGBS Unnati Foundation on the first-ever proposed public issuance of zero-coupon-zero-principal instruments (ZCZP) to be listed on the social stock exchanges (SSE). In financial markets, the rate of return should be commensurate with the underlying risk of the investment. If I add a third “impact” axis to that equation, and remove the “financial” return axis, because we do not need to generate financial returns, I can take maximum risk for maximum impact. Grant funding is often considered “soft” funding. I disagree. It's scarce capital, and we can take maximum risk with it. Taking a risk to apply capital and optimize for impact outcomes can be a huge lever for positive change.
