Italy has introduced a Digital Nomad visa, effective April 4th, allowing non-EU passport holders to live and work in the country. This visa targets highly skilled remote workers, requiring an annual income of nearly €28,000 ($30,400), which is three times the minimum required for healthcare cost exemption. Applicants must have a three-year college degree, a professional licence, or substantial experience in their field, along with at least six months of relevant work experience. Proof of accommodation and healthcare coverage is mandatory, with options for private insurance or enrollment in the Italian National Health Service for €2,000 annually. Family members can accompany the applicant, subject to local police approval, but anyone with a criminal record in the past five years is disqualified. Applications must be submitted at the local Italian Consulate before arrival. The visa is valid for one year and renewable within Italy. Upon arrival, applicants have eight days to apply for a residence permit. Self-employed individuals also need an Italian tax VAT number and guidance on local tax obligations. Italy joins Japan in offering Digital Nomad visas to attract high-earning foreign workers. #ItalyDigitalNomadVisa #DigitalNomad #RemoteWork #ItalyVisa #TravelItaly #DigitalNomadLife #RemoteWorkers #WorkAbroad #ItalyLiving #ExpatLife #HighSkilledWorkers #DigitalNomadCommunity

Great news for those planning to visit the UK! Effective from 31 January 2024, the UK has introduced significant changes to its visa rules, making it easier for visitors to engage in a wider range of activities and paid engagements. The one-month Permitted Paid Engagements (PPE) visa for experts in their field coming to the UK to undertake specific paid engagements will no longer exist. Instead, everything currently allowed under the PPE visa will be incorporated into the six-month Standard Visitor visa. However, such activities will have to be carried out in the first month regardless of whether someone chooses to stay longer in the UK. Visitors can now work remotely for their overseas employer while on a UK Visitor Visa, as long as tourism or other non-work activities remain their primary purpose. This means that you can work from the comfort of your hotel room or a cozy cafe while enjoying the scenic beauty of the UK. Visiting professionals can now engage in specific client-related activities, research initiatives, and legal proceedings, with certain conditions. Visiting speakers can now receive payment for their talks in the UK, and the Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) Visitor route is being merged into the Standard Visitor route, simplifying the visa process. These changes will provide more flexibility to visitors and make the UK a more attractive destination for business and tourism. So, pack your bags and get ready to explore the UK like never before! 🎉🎉🎉 What are you waiting for? Digital nomads are able to earn a living by working online from locations they choose globally, as opposed to staying in a fixed location for work. The visa means workers are free to explore different countries without having to apply for long-term visas. The digital nomad option has taken off among many workers, especially individuals working in the tech sector. Numerous countries already offer digital nomad visas and this has resulted in a growth in foreign visitors, which brings revenue into the countries. It is common cause that the digital nomad visa would benefit South Africa, and, in particular, the Western Cape because it would mean that tourists extend their visits. According to the department of Home Affairs, the Immigration Act needs to be amended to allow for the introduction of these visas.

Schengen Visa Fees to be Increased from June 2024 Attention travelers! Starting from June 11, 2024, the Schengen visa fees are set to increase by 12%. This means that adult applicants will now pay €90 instead of € 80, while the fee for children aged 6 to 12 will be € 45 instead of € 40. The European Commission attributes this hike to the inflation rate in Schengen countries and the average payment of civil servants. Stay informed to plan your travel budget accordingly. The Schengen visa permits staying 90 days within six months and covers 29 European countries, excluding Ireland and Cyprus. It will also include Romania and Bulgaria, non-European countries, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. As per the Schengen visa rule, the fees are reviewed every three years. The code was reviewed in December 2023, and the decision was made in February 2024. The last price hike in the Schengen visa was in February 2023, from €60 to €80. Good news for Indian travelers! With a significant increase of 43% in Indian visa applicants in Europe, the European Commission has introduced the Cascade visa procedure. This new procedure offers multiple entries and can be extended up to five years, allowing you to stay for 90 days in every 180 days period.
