Rat für Formgebung - German Design Council’s Post

Ingenuity and creativity: some of the projects in the one&twenty competition epitomise a highly thoughtful approach to textile design that pushes the boundaries of innovation. 🧶 Soft Object is a collection of knitted objects such as vases, vessels and bottles. Gaspard Fleury combines digital craftsmanship with classic flat knitting techniques to promote the potential of textiles in object and furniture design and explore different aspects of the soft object concept while minimising production waste. 🪡 Off the Grid by Antonia Gauß revolutionises textile dyeing with a Pen Plotter, drawing inspiration from silk painting. The fusion of craftsmanship and industrial reproduction opens new design horizons, showcasing the creative symbiosis between designer and machine. 🧵 ORIORI by Emilie Palle Holm presents a collection of transformable, woven sculptures utilizing the 3D Origami principle. This unique interpretation of Origami craftsmanship within contemporary textile design demonstrates an innovative method of creating forms exclusively through weaving. Congratulations to the winners for their valuable contributions!
