Every April, Autism Speaks celebrates World Autism Month, beginning with the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day! Today marks the 16th annual World Autism Awareness Day, which celebrates autistic individuals and provides opportunities to increase understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity and fostering worldwide support. We are taking this opportunity to help break down the barriers to social participation for autistic individuals and their families by supporting Autism Bedfordshire - a charity which provides local support to families in our community. Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, let's acknowledge the strengths of individuals with Autism. At Cobra Network, we're committed to cultivating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. This year, we have partnered with Support Dogs, an organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with various medical conditions by training and providing support dogs to children and adults in need, this includes Autism assistance dogs. As part of our commitment, we aim to raise £20,000 to fully train a Support Dog right up to being matched with an individual in need. Dogs for Autism are the first charity in the UK to specialise in dogs for autism, and the only charity to provide dogs free of charge to autistic people of any age, anywhere in the UK. Research has shown that dogs can enable people to access the world around them and to enhance their emotional and physical wellbeing, and in a study 88% of families reported that a dog brought significant benefits to their lives.
