Chairman of the Supervisory Board Deutsche Telekom

I haven't posted anything here on LinkedIn in a year. Today, exactly one year ago, I ended my job at DHL Group (then Deutsche Post DHL Group). And I think it's time to give a sign of life again. The last 12 months have been an exciting journey for me. Of course, a lot has changed. But some things have remained the same. First, I am pleased that DHL Group continues to do very well and that the five businesses have developed better or at least as well as the best competitors. My successor Tobias Meyer and his team is doing a great job and that's why DHL Group continues to be in an excellent position. And above all, DHL continues to connect people and improve their lives. Deutsche Telekom, where I am now Chairman of the Supervisory Board, is also in an excellent position. Under the leadership of Tim Höttges, Deutsche Telekom has become by far the most valuable telecommunications company in Europe and owns a majority stake in the world's most valuable telecommunications company, T-Mobile US. In addition, the brand is now the No. 1 in Europe and a top 10 brand worldwide. Fresenius, where I sit on the Supervisory Board, has also managed the turnaround under the leadership of the new CEO Michael Sen and a completely new management team and took many important decisions for the future. I was recently able to experience the new spirit at the Fresenius management conference. And the Max Planck Society, where I have been a member of the Senate for six years and a member of the Board of Directors since June last year, is one of the best research institutions in the world. What many people don't know is that the Max Planck Society has received at least one Nobel Prize every year for the past four years, a total of 6! No research institution in the world has ever achieved this. As of yesterday, I have also been elected to the Supervisory Board of RWE AG. I am looking forward to this new role. What do all the successes described have in common? They are based on good leadership. But what is good leadership? I had the opportunity to speak on this topic in November at the Good Corporate Governance Award I received last year. You can read exactly what I mean by good leadership on the DSW (Deutsche Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz e.V.) website (link: https://lnkd.in/eXCJRkq4 ), where you can find my acceptance speech in German. You may be wondering; does he still work as much as he used to? No, thanks to the good leadership in the companies mentioned, I now work much less than I used to and have enough time to take care of the finer things in life, more time for the family, travel, sports, reading, brushing up on my French, just to name a few things. As you may have already noticed, I'm doing very well in "retirement".

Bin ganz gespannt.

Frank it is wonderful to see you enjoying your life after DHL Group. 17 years under your leadership at DHL Group, I learned the importance of prioritizing “purpose” in business and personal life. All the best Frank.

Go Frank, go! Love this. Your leadership at these companies and any company you advise or help steer is a boon and steady hand. I hope they take close heed of that advice and the example you set at DHL Group (formerly Deutsche Post DHL Group). I am proud to have been part of that journey from 2008 to 2017. Continued success! P.S. Nice gravel trail view! 🚵🏾♂️👌🏾💯😉

Great to hear from you Frank - your Respect & Result culture will be a lasting legacy, making DHL the best logistics company on the planet. Keep enjoying your various board roles & more importantly your new freedom!

Good to hear from you Frank! It is great to see you are having such a fantastic “retirement”… as you will never retire! Another thing that makes that leadership real is “leading by example” which you have practitioned and we all have followed. Keep providing such example!

That’s a fabulous first post in a year Frank. Great to see that you are doing so well. It was also wonderful to see you and to have a brief catch up Dubai back in February…. Best wishes in all your new ventures and here’s to doing less work 👍

It seems your life is well filled and as always you dedicate your time to make the world and businesses to a better place by your authenticity and focus on true leadership! My best memories serving under your direct leadership! Enjoy your retirement!
